Glynn Posts School Record on Her Way to Hurdles Final

Will race for national championship on Saturday
AUSTIN— Abbey Glynn headlined the opening day for the contingent of Colorado women who opened competition at the NCAA Championships at Mike A Myers Track & Soccer Stadium on Thursday.

Glynn and India Johnson were CU's lone individuals to compete on Thursday. Grace Jenkins, Emma Pollak, Jaida Drame and Glynn teamed for the 4x400 relay.

Conditions were hot in Austin with temperatures still pushing 80 degrees with 79% humidity during the evening session. Â

Glynn kicked things off for the Buffs, breaking her school record in the women's 400-meter hurdles semifinal. Glynn clocked a personal best of 55.94 to place third in her heat and sixth overall. She was in the first and fastest heat of the night with four of the nine finalists coming out of the heat. Her time would have been good for an auto-qualifier in the third heat. Glynn will race for CU's first 400-hurdles national championship on Saturday (8:27 p.m. MT).Â
Johnson represented Colorado in the 10,000-meter final. She would withdraw from the race after 4,400 meters. Johnson wrapped up her collegiate career with honorable mention All-American honors, making her a three-time All-American in the 10,000-meters.

The 4x400 meter relay closed the first night of the women's competition with a top 20 finish. Colorado finished seventh in its heat and 19th overall with a time of 3:36.37. The team earned honorable mention All-American honors and improved four spots from last year's meet. Â Â
Friday's belongs solely to Avery McMullen and the heptathlon. She will compete in four events throughout the day, starting with the 100-meter hurdles (1:45 p.m. MT).
