The five honors are the most in a season by a Big 12 Goalkeeper
IRVING, Texas — Colorado goalkeeper Jordan Nytes recorded 10 saves and her 11th shutout of the season last week on her way to earning her fifth Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week honor, the conference announced on Monday.
The five honors this season for Nytes are the most by a Big 12 goalkeeper in a single season, passing Iowa State's Jordan Silkowitz's four in the 2020 season.
She joins Nikki Marshall (2006) as the second Buffalo to record five Big 12 honors in the season and is just the fifth player in Big 12 history to earn five in the same season.
The weekly honor is Nytes' seventh of her career, having collected two as a freshman at Oklahoma State in 2022. She is tied for second amongst goalkeepers, joining Baylor's Jennifer Wandt (2017-21) for career honors. Overall, it marks her ninth weekly conference award, earning two Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week honors last season.
The native of Centennial, Colo., matched her season-high in saves in the Buffs' 0-0 draw last Friday against Utah. She made seven of her saves in the first half.
Nytes has helped captain Colorado to 10 wins this season. Her 11 total shutouts this season rank second in the Big 12 and fourth in the NCAA. Her 11 clean sheets are now tied for the second most in a season by a CU keeper. Her 15 total shutouts at CU are now tied for fourth in program history.
Since rejoining the conference, Nytes has collected all five of CU's Big 12 weekly honors. It is the 36th Big 12 honor collected by the Buffs and the fifth Goalkeeper of the Week award. Before Nytes, the last CU soccer player to earn a Big 12 weekly award was Annie Brunner's Newcomer of the Week honor on Nov. 2, 2010.
The Goalkeeper of the Week award started in the 2020 season. Goalkeepers were previously honored as Defensive Player of the Week.
