The Buffaloes hit the road to start the season on Monday
LARAMIE, Wyo. – Colorado women's basketball kicks off its 50th anniversary season with a trip up north to Wyoming, opening the 2024-25 season on the road at Arena-Auditorium (5:30 p.m.).
The Buffaloes open the season with a true road game for the first time since going to Oklahoma State to start the 2021-22 campaign. CU opened last season with a 92-78 win over No. 1 LSU on a neutral court in Las Vegas. The Buffs are 45-5 all-time in season-openers and haven't lost an opener since 1999.
Wyoming opens the year slated to finish second in the Mountain West Conference in the preseason coaches poll. The Cowgirls went 18-5 last season and returned all five starters. Allyson Fertic was picked as one of the Mountain West's Co-Preseason Conference Players of the Year and was named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watch List, as well as the Lisa Leslie Award Watch List.

Five Things to Know
- New Look Buffs – Colorado enters the 2024-25 season with 10 newcomers. It is tied for the second most newcomers in the nation, behind Clemson and Kentucky, which both have 11. Colorado is the only 2024 NCAA Tournament team to have double-digit newcomers. Frida Formann is the only returning starter from last season.
- International Flavor – Colorado boasts eight international players from seven different countries. It's the most international players in program history. The Buffs' eight is tied with Gonzaga for the second most in the country, behind UTEP's 10.
- Road Success – The Buffaloes went 8-4 in true road games last year, including their win over No. 15/16 Kansas State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Big 12 Honors – Freshman Tabitha Betson was voted the Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year. She's the highest-rated freshman in the conference this season, ranked No. 48 in the ESPN 100.
- Miller Watch List – Lior Garzon was one of 20 players named to the Preseason Miller Award Watch List for the top small forward in the nation. She scored 1,257 career points in her previous stops at Villanova and Oklahoma State. Garzon ranks fifth all-time at Oklahoma State with 140 career 3FGM.
