McMullen Breaks Own School Record in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. – The Colorado Buffaloes men's and women's track and field teams finished day one of the Ken Shannon Last Chance here at Dempsey Indoor on Friday.

Avery McMullen continued her impressive season, extending her school record in the 60-meter hurdles for a second-place finish. She improved her previous mark by 0.03 seconds for a new record of 8.18.

Nicholas Bianco leads the Buffs in the men's heptathlon, sitting in seventh place with 2,951 points. He is followed by John Swabik in ninth and Drake Miller in 12th while Troy Colleran is in fifth as an unattached athlete. The men's heptathlon continues tomorrow with the 60 hurdles, pole vault and 1000-meter.

Eva Bruce was the only Buff to compete in the women's pentathlon and she finished in eighth place. She set a new personal best in the 60 hurdles, her first event of the day. Bruce finished the action by placing third in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:24.44.

In other runs on the day, Ian Gilmore and Emma Pollak both placed third in their respective 200-meter races. In the men's 200, Luc Andrada also finished in fifth, not far behind Gilmore.

Prior to the 200 sprints, Ella Baran set a personal record in the 5,000-meter, crushing her previous best by about seven seconds. Her new PR time in the event is 15:26.66.

Colorado fared well in the men's and women's weight throws, having multiple athletes secure top-10 finishes. Isabella Braun and Amanda Opp finished fourth and fifth on the women's side while Matt Ward and Isaiah Bouchard went five and six on the men's side.

In the long jumps, Aidan Christiansen placed sixth for the men and Kara Lucyk finished fifth for the women as they were both the only Buffs to compete in the events.

Action continues on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT when the men's shot put and men's 60 hurdles kick off the day.
