Pac-12 Names Ashley Stokes Offensive Player of the Week
April 15, 2024 | Lacrosse
BOULDER — The Pac-12 Conference announced Monday afternoon that Colorado Buffaloes senior midfielder Ashley Stokes was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
It is the third different CU player and fourth time this season the Buffs have brought home player of the week honors. Stokes joins her teammate Madeline Pisani as the only other to win OPOTW this season. Jess Peluso has claimed Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this year.
Stokes arguably had the best two games of her career this past weekend, posting a total of 18 points that included seven goals and 11 assists.
She led her team to back-to-back wins against Arizona State and Kent State. Colorado posted a season-high 20 goals in both of those games.
On Friday, Stokes tied the school record for most assists in a single game (7) and led all Buffaloes in points. Those seven assists brought her to 20 overall on the year and became just the second CU player ever to record multiple seasons of 20 or more assists.
After a heavy passing game against ASU, Stokes took matters into her own hands on Sunday against the Golden Flashes. She tallied a career-high seven goals, the most by any Buff this season, along with four assists to finish with 11 points in the game.
That is the most points scored in a single game by a CU player since Darby Kiernan had a school record 12 points in 2018 against Jacksonville.
In the last three games, Stokes has nearly accumulated half of her season point total. She had 26 points (13 G, 13 A) in that three-game span and has 53 points on the season.
This is the first Pac-12 Player of the Week honor for Stokes in her career.
