The captain will return for 2024 season

BOULDER — Colorado captain Rachel Rosen announced that she will return to the Buffaloes and Prentup Field in 2024 for her fifth and final season on Wednesday.

The Hermosa Beach, Calif., native, donned the captain's band for the Buffs last season and helped lead Colorado back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2020.

"Rachel was fantastic for us last year, on and off the field," head coach Danny Sanchez commented. "She was rock solid in the back and was a great captain. We are excited she will be doing her master's degree and playing her fifth year with us."

Rosen was one of four field players to start all 21 games last season, helping CU to a 13-5-3 record. She was fourth on the team last season, matching her career-high with seven points (1 G, 5 A). Rosen recorded assists in four consecutive matches last season from Sept. 10 -28, setting a school record for the longest assist streak.

The 5-7 defender played a career-high in games (21) and minutes (1,314) last season and helped quarterback CU's defense to eight shutouts. She tied her career-high with three points in the Buffs' win at Denver, notching the game-winner from the penalty spot.

Rosen enters her final season with 20 career points (4 G, 12 A). Her 12 assists are in a five-way tie for ninth in program history. Rosen has averaged 0.19 assists per game in her 63 matches, good for 10th in program history.

Colorado will continue its spring season this Saturday, taking on Kansas State at Prentup Field (1 p.m. MT).
