June 10, 2024 | Volleyball
BOULDER – The Colorado women's volleyball team announced its 2024 preseason schedule Monday. The Buffs open the spring campaign in the North Texas Invitational and plays North Texas, Rutgers, and Miami at North Texas Volleyball Center in Denton, Texas on Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
Colorado hosts two preseason tournaments following the North Texas invite – the Buffs Classic and Buffs Invitational. The Buffs Classic features games against Georgia, Fresno State, and Washington on Sept. 6-8, and Buffs Invitational showcases competition against Irvine, California, and Wyoming on Sept. 13-15. Both tournaments will take place at CU Events Center.
Between the two tournaments, Colorado hosts Northern Colorado on Sept. 11. The Buffs swept the Bears in their last meeting (Aug. 31, 2023) and lead the overall series, 5-1.
Preseason play concludes with a home-and-home against non-conference rival Colorado State. The Buffs head to Fort Collins for a 6 p.m. match at Moby Arena on Sept. 19 and play the Rams at home on Sept. 20, the first time the volleyball team will be at home for Homecoming in the Jesse Mahoney era.
Colorado earned a winning record in the 2023 season (16-15) and went 8-12 against Pac-12 opponents. A significant win for the Buffs took place against 17th-ranked Arizona State last year. The Buffs took down the Sun Devils in three sets, completing the sweep and earning CU's only win against a ranked opponent in the 2023 season. Colorado also swept Arizona (Oct. 20) and Washington (Nov. 19) and finished seventh in the Pac-12.
