Eleven Tournaments Highlight Start Of Sheils Era, Return To Big 12 Conference

BOULDER – The 2024-25 Colorado women's golf schedule features a mix of regular stops and new venues as the Buffaloes make their return to the Big 12 Conference and usher in the leadership of first-year head coach Madeleine Sheils.

The season begins with the same four tournaments as Colorado competed in to start 2023-24. The Buffaloes open Sept. 16-17, at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at the Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.

Colorado returns to the Centennial State for the Colonel Wollenberg Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State, Sept. 23-24, at Ptarmigan in Fort Collins. At last year's Ram Classic, the Buffaloes recorded their second-best 54-hole score in team history, with a runner-up finish at 28-under, 836.

Colorado stays in the metro area two weeks later for the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, Oct. 4-6, at the University of Denver Golf Club in Highlands Ranch.

The Buffaloes will then head west to wrap up the fall at the Stanford Intercollegiate, Oct. 18-20 and the Nanea Invitational, site of the former Pac-12 Preview event, Oct. 28-30, at the Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.

Colorado opens the spring portion of the season with its first international event in six years. The Buffaloes will travel to Mexico to compete in the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club, hosted by Virginia Jan. 31-Feb. 1. The 54-hole event is scheduled to feature 27 holes each day.

Overall, it will be Colorado's fourth international trip and first since the 2019 Tar Heel Classic played in the Dominican Republic.

The Buffaloes return to the states for the San Diego State Classic, Feb. 10-11, at The Heights Golf Club, before heading to a pair of not-so-familiar spots.

Colorado will travel to Sacramento, Calif., for the Causeway Invitational, Feb. 24-25, for its first-ever tournament at the Del Paso Country Club. The Buffaloes will then compete at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational for the first time in five years, March 17-18, at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.

Colorado wraps up regular season action by hosting, along with Oregon, the 11th Chevron Silverado Showdown, April 7-9, at the Silverado Resort & Spa South Course in Napa, Calif.

An annual highlight of the Chevron Silverado Showdown an invitation for the low graduating senior, who is remaining an amateur, to participate in the LPGA's Chevron Championship the following spring. Oregon State graduate Chayse Gomez took that honor last season, tying for fifth overall at 1-under 215 at the 2024 Silverado, and is scheduled to compete at the Chevron Championships at The Woodlands, Texas, in April 2025.

The 2025 Big 12 Championship is set for April 15-17, at the Houston Oaks Country Club in Hockley, Texas. NCAA Regional play is set for May 5-7 at six sites with the NCAA Championship scheduled for May 16-21 at the Omni La Costa Champions Golf Course in Carlsbad, Calif.

"We're excited to get going this fall," said Sheils, who officially became the third full-time head coach in program history on July 1. "We've put together a fall and spring schedule that allows us to face the country's top team and play some world-class golf courses. It will really prepare us to compete for the Big 12 Conference Championship and make a run in the postseason. We'll also have two area tournaments at Ptarmigan and DU, and we encourage our local fans to come out to those events to watch us play."
