Buffs Finish Day 2 at the Battle in the Bay Classic

El Sayed and Stanojevic fall in singles to move to the consolation round of 16

SAN FRANCISCO – The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team finished day two at the Battle in the Bay Classic with Aya El Sayed and Mila Stanojevic coming out on top in doubles play, and falling to the consolation round of 16 in singles.
 
The two seniors started the day off strong with a doubles victory over University of Southern California's Parker Fry and Maia Sung 8-5. This win sends the Colorado duo to a bye round, then placing them in the consolation semifinals.

Stanojevic continued the action moving into singles against No. 15 Emma Charney of University of Southern California. Stanojevic fought hard, but fell in a straight set to Charney.  
 
El Sayed followed, matching up against No. 5 Ange Oby Kajuru of Oklahoma State. After trailing in the first set, El Sayed came back in the second to win it 6-3. El Sayed kept strong throughout the final set, but ultimately fell to Kajuru 7-5.  

Up Next
The Buffs will continue into the third day of play at the Battle in the Bay Classic tomorrow with both El Sayed and Stanojevic staying alive in the consolation round. The duo stays alive in doubles play as well, sitting in the consolation semifinals.
