No. 24 Colorado Hosts Utah and West Virginia

BOULDER – The 24th-ranked Colorado volleyball team (14-3, 5-1 Big 12) locks down home base this week with matches against Utah (9-7, 1-4 Big 12) on Oct. 15 and West Virginia (13-4, 1-4 Big 12) on Oct. 18. The Buffs are ranked 24th in the AVCA Coaches' Poll for the second week in a row.
This is the Buffs' 35th meeting all-time with the Utes – second this season – and only the second with the Mountaineers. CU will play both matches in CU Events Center, the first on Wednesday at 7 p.m. MT and the second on Saturday at 12 p.m.
Currently second in the conference standings, the Buffs are 5-1 in Big 12 play after a week in Arizona. Last week, CU saw a tough four-set loss to then-No. 8 Arizona State, but a four-set victory over Arizona. Junior pin attacker Sydney Jordan (Missouri City, Texas/Ridge Point HS) had a double-double against Arizona with 14 kills and 20 digs, her third double-double of the season and ninth of her career.

UTAH! AGAIN!: For the first time this season, the Buffs are playing a team for a second time in their 35th meeting with Utah. Earlier this season, CU swept the Utes on the road in Salt Lake City while the Utes were ranked 23rd in the country (Sept. 27). The Black and Gold are 5-5 in their last 10 meetings with Utah.
MISSED YA, MOUNTAINEERS: For only the second time in the programs' history, CU will take on West Virginia at home on Saturday. Last season, the Buffs fell in four sets to the Mountaineers (Oct. 23, 2024). CU looks forward to a revenge match against WVU and to tie up the all-time rivalry record.
DOUBLE OR NOTHING: Jr. PIN Sydney Jordan is fourth in conference for aces per set with 0.42. Jordan had a double-double at Arizona with 14 kills, 20 digs and an ace (Oct. 8). This double-double was her third of the season and ninth of her career. Against the Sun Devils, she had eight kills, seven digs and three blocks (Oct. 10).
MILESTONE WATCH: Jr. PIN Ana Burilovic has 95 aces, five away from 100. Jr. PIN Sydney Jordan had 48 aces, two away from 50, and 455 kills, 45 away from 500. Jr. DS/L Peyton Neal has 194 assists, six away from 200. Jr. PIN Lily Dwinell has 197 blocks, three away from 200. Sr. DS/L Sarah Moton has 1,314 digs, 186 away from 1,500, and 81 aces, 19 away from 100.
MILESTONE CHECK: Jr. PIN Sydney Jordan reached 400 digs against ASU (Oct. 10) and she now sits at 408.

- CU is led by 10th-year head coach Jesse Mahoney, who has led the Buffs to a 155-129 (.546) record as CU's fifth head volleyball coach. Coach Mahoney has been extended through 2027 and has led the Buffs to three NCAA appearances. Mahoney also picked up his 150th win as head coach at CU against Denver at CU Events Center (Sept. 14). He becomes the third coach in Colorado Volleyball history to reach 150 wins, joining the likes of Pi'i Aiu and Brandon Saindon.
- In its second year back in the Big 12, Colorado was picked to finish 10th in the Big 12 Preseason Poll. The Buffs are 157-167 (.485) in Big 12 conference play.
- For the second week in a row, the Buffs are ranked 24th in the AVCA Coaches' Poll. This is the fifth week this season that the Buffs have received votes in the poll, and their second week in a row in the top-25.
- Jr. PIN Ana Burilovic finished the weekend first in conference for points per set (5.85) and first kills per set (4.93), landing her at fourth and 10th in the NCAA, respectively. She is also second in conference and 16th in the country for aces per set (0.56). Against Arizona, she had 21 kills, nine digs, two blocks (one solo) and an ace (Oct. 8). At ASU, she had 19 kills, eight digs and two blocks (one solo)(Oct. 10).
- R-Jr. S Rian Finley is second in the Big 12 and 20th in the country (via NCAA) for assists per set with 10.42. Finley saw 34 assists against Arizona, as well as one kill, nine digs and one block (Oct. 8). She also had 38 assists, one ace, four digs and three blocks at ASU (Oct. 10).
