
Buffs Begin Regional Competition

PROVO, Utah – The Colorado Buffalo women's tennis team began the ITA Mountain Region Championship this Tuesday in Provo, Utah.
In the first day of competition, the Buffs saw play in the first round of doubles, and the qualifying rounds of singles.
To begin the day in doubles, three Buff duos took the court in the round of 64, with two coming out on top.
Freshman Lani Brotman and Yukiko Ikedo faced Allison Isaacs and Masa Viriant of Boise State University, defeating the Bronco's, 8-6. Rixt van der Werff and Lera Alexin followed, defeating their Montana State opponents Terezie Stverakova and Angel Bean, 8-4.
On the top of the bracket, Anya Nelson and Ema Bubalo received a first-round bye, while Pia Rebec and Heidi Crncan fell to the backside.
Singles competition began in the qualification draw, to determine who will head into the main round this coming Wednesday. Ikedo and Crncan took first round wins to start the day, and Willow Gretsch fell short to move forward.
In the second round of qualification, Ikedo and Crncan both took losses to finish front side competition.
Up Next
The Buffaloes will continue competition on Wednesday morning in both singles and doubles play.
