Alexin, Van Der Werff pick up a consolation win in California
SAN DIEGO, Ca. & BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – The Colorado Buffaloes women's tennis finished out a frenzy of competition this Friday, splitting the day with a win at the ITA Conference Master Championship, and two more at the Bonita Bay Classic.
In San Diego, Van Der Werff and Alexin continued their run in the consolation round, downing King and Skowronska of Chicago State. The duo picked up a pair of 6-1 sets to advance to Saturday competition, facing Guibal Britt and Anikina of Southern Illinois.
In Bonita Springs, the Buffs continued competition facing the University of Memphis and Florida Gulf Coast. The crew picked up two singles wins from Anya Nelson and Lani Brotman, downing their opponents in straight sets.
Nelson faced Clemence Thouard of Memphis, taking two quick 6-1 wins to finish her singles run for the day. Brotman saw Memphis opponent Alicia Mall, wasting no time in her 6-3, 6-2 win.

The Buffs continue competition on both fronts tomorrow. Van Der Werff and Alexin will move forward in the consolation quarterfinals at 11 a.m. (MT). The rest of the herd will face the University of Memphis at 10:30 a.m. (MT) in Bonita Springs.
