Pair Bring 2026 Newcomer Total To 12
BOULDER — The Colorado Buffaloes capped the Early Signing Period Friday by adding two final commitments to the 2026 newcomer class, signing athlete Alex Ward and defensive back Braylon Edwards. Their additions bring the total number of signees to 12 and continue the Buffs' national recruiting presence both Florida and Texas.
Ward, a four-star prospect, arrives after competing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he saw action at both wide receiver and defensive back following a reclassification into the 2026 class. He previously played at Walton High School in Marietta, Ga., and demonstrated playmaking ability on both sides of the ball, recording 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns on offense while adding 18 tackles, two interceptions, a pick-six and a sack on defense as a sophomore. A proven all-around athlete, Ward also owns times of 10.9 in the 100 meters and 21.9 in the 200 meters and joins his brother Christian as part of this 2026 class.Â
Edwards, a three-star defensive back from Duncanville High School in Texas, brings extensive experience from one of the state's premier programs after beginning his career at Wilmer-Hutchins. In 46 varsity games, he totaled 224 tackles, 37 pass breakups and seven interceptions while helping his teams make deep postseason runs. Edwards led Duncanville to a 10-1 mark this season entering the Texas 6A Quarterfinals and previously helped guide the Panthers to the state championship game as a junior.
With Ward and Edwards now officially on board, Colorado closes the Early Signing Period. The Buffs' 2026 class now features signees from eight different states. Â The Late Signing Period will begin February 5 following the opening of the transfer portal for 15 days starting on January 2 with a few exceptions for those teams in the College Football Playoff and if coaches are hired after January 2.Â
