Buffs Multi-Event Athletes Set for Riverside Invitational in Spokane

BOULDER— Colorado indoor track and field's multi-event group will head to Spokane, Washington, for the Riverside Invitational.
CU will send four women and four men to compete in the two-day meet. On the women's side, Allie Routledge, Riley Burkey, Ava Goetz and Eva Bruce will represent the black and gold in a field of 22. The pentathlon will take place over two days as the Buffs aim to improve their marks to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The women are seeking to surpass 4,083 points. Burkey and Goetz are the only Buffs to have competed in the multis this season, with Burkey recording a career-high 3,425 points at the UCCS Invitational and Multi on Dec. 13.
The men's squad, led by Nick Bianco, will also feature Drake Miller, John Swabik and John Bass. Bianco looks to improve his NCAA ranking, currently sitting at No. 15 with 5,615 points. Last season, he placed first in the same event. The target number for the men is 5,598, which is currently held by the 16th-ranked athlete. The NCAA indoor track and field championships only take the top 16. Swabik is on the cusp with a season-high 5,430 points at the UCCS Invitational and Multi on Dec. 13.
The Riverside Invitational will be held Feb. 6-8 at The Podium. The first event starts at 1 p.m.
