March 01, 2025 | Track and Field
LUBBOCK, Texas — The Colorado Buffaloes wrapped up competition at the 2025 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, at Texas Tech Sports Performance Center.
The men finished 12th and the women finished 16th. Texas Tech dominated the team standings, scoring 113.5 points in the women's competition and 130 points on the men's side to sweep the indoor title. Colorado men earned 16 points, the women earned 10 points.
Colorado's heptathletes had solid performances, with Drake Miller winning his section of the 1,000 meters (2:52.01), while Nick Bianco cleared 5.11 meters (16-9.25) in the pole vault, good for second place among multi-event athletes. His second place finish and a fourth place finish in the 1,000m with a personal best time of 2:41.55, that propelled him to seventh place and earning two points after accumulating 5629 points, 14 points shy of his school record. Drake Miller finished 13th and John Bass finished 16th
On the track, Dean Casey placed sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:49.56, contributing three points to Colorado's total. Kole Mathison added to the Buffs' tally with an eighth-place finish in the 3,000 meters (7:59.53). In the field events, Noah Bouchard cleared a season-best 2.08 meters (6-9.75) in the high jump, finishing fifth and earning four points.
The women's side, Katja Baeuerle was the lone Buff to score on Day 2, finishing eighth in the 3,000 meters (9:30.74) to earn one point.
Colorado also has two athletes on the NCAA Indoor Championships bubble. Jessie Secor currently sits 18th in the 3,000 meters, while Allie Routledge is ranked 19th in the pentathlon. Both will wait to see if scratches allow them to move into the top 16 and qualify for the 2025 NCAA DI Indoor Track and Field Championships, set for March 15 in Virginia Beach, Va.
With the indoor season winding down, the Buffs will now turn their attention to the outdoor season, which kicks off at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational on March 21-22 in Pueblo, Colo., hosted by CSU-Pueblo.
