March 16, 2025 | Track and Field

BOULDER USA Track & Field (USATF) has named Lindsey Malone to the coaching staff for the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China. Malone will oversee the men's heptathlon, high jump, pole vault, long jump, and triple jump.

With a wealth of experience in combined events and jumps, Malone is eager for the opportunity to represent the U.S. on the world stage.

"It's a dream come true to coach Team USA at the 2025 World Championships in Nanjing," Malone said. "I couldn't be more excited, grateful or thankful for the opportunity to represent the United States on the World stage. We have selected a tremendous track and field team filled with phenomenal athletes who are ready to compete against the world's best. This is my third time coaching Team USA and each team has had a tremendous impact on me. I understand the gravity of this honor and I share this moment with everyone who has inspired, influenced and supported me along this journey!"

Malone is no stranger to international competition. She previously coached Team USA at the 2010 and 2022 Thorpe Cup, an annual heptathlon and decathlon showdown between the U.S. and Germany. In 2022, she was named head coach for the event, further solidifying her leadership in the sport.

Malone will be guiding some of Team USA's top talent in the most technical events at the indoor championships. In the men's heptathlon, she'll work with Harrison Williams, a former NCAA champion and established multi-event competitor, and Heath Baldwin, an up-and-coming athlete.

In the high jump, Eli Kosiba looks to make a strong showing after establishing himself as one of the country's top competitors. Malone will also guide Sam Kendricks, a two-time world outdoor champion in the pole vault, as he seeks his first world indoor gold after earning silver in 2016, 2018, and 2024. The long jump squad features Will Williams and Cameron Crump, both looking to land on the podium. In the triple jump, Russell Robinson and three-time Olympic medalist Will Claye will aim for top finishes.

Malone joins a distinguished Team USA coaching staff that includes Travis Coleman (throws), Maurice Pierce (sprints/hurdles), and Dena Evans (distance), with Nick Polk serving as head manager.
The 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships take place from March 21-23 in Nanjing.

NBC Sports and Peacock will stream the competition live. Fans can also follow live results on the World Athletics website and USATF's official platforms.

Team USA's 56-athlete roster is headlined by 10 returning medalists.
