September 30, 2025 | Volleyball
IRVING, Texas – Colorado volleyball junior pinattacker Ana Burilovic (Split, Croatia/V. Gimnasium "Vladimir Nazor") was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the Conference announced Tuesday, Sept. 30.
This marks the first weekly conference honor for the Buffs this season. This is also the first time the Buffs have been named for a Big 12 weekly award since returning to the Conference last season.
Burilovic earns her first career weekly recognition for conference Offensive Player of the Week. In last week's matchup against BYU, Burilovic led the match with 22 kills, hitting .333 (7e, 45att), seven digs, four aces, one block and one assist (Sept. 25). Against the Utes, Burilovic saw another 19 kills, hitting .341 (4e, 44att), eight digs, three aces and one solo block (Sept. 27). In the Big 12, Burilovic currently ranks first in points (235.5, 5.74/s), which is good for 6th in the NCAA. She is also first in kills (198, 4.83/s), as well as second in service aces (25, 0.61/s) in the Big 12. She is 12th in kills per set and 15th for aces per set in the NCAA.
Earlier today, Burilovic was tabbed for AVCA National Player of the Week. This marked the Buffaloes' eighth National Player of the Week award. The last time Colorado won the award was outside hitter Alexa Smith on Sept. 18, 2017. Only one Buff has won the award twice, that being outside hitter Taylor Simpson on Nov. 5 and Nov. 19, 2014. Colorado's first-ever selection came on Oct. 13, 1997, and was awarded to left side/outside hitter Sarah Lodge.
The Colorado volleyball team is now receiving votes for the third week this season after two ranked wins on the road over then-No. 14 BYU on Sept. 25, and then-No. 23 Utah on Sept. 27. Colorado is currently tied for second in the Big 12 and is 2-0 in conference matchups this season. The Buffs hold their conference home opener at the CU Events Center against UCF on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. MT and Houston on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. MT. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+, and fans can follow along via stats links on CUBuffs.com.
