Buffs Post Multiple Top Finishes on Day One in Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado's throws crew set the tone on day one of the outdoor season Friday at the Dr. Dan Caprioglio Invitational, turning in multiple podium finishes and program top-10 marks.

Lucas Williams led the way on the men's side, placing third in the hammer throw with a personal-best mark of 190-01 to move to No. 9 all-time in program history.

Alaina Fantaski delivered a standout performance in the women's javelin, recording a personal-best throw of 152-06 to place third and move to No. 4 all-time at Colorado.

Amanda Opp added a runner-up finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 178-03.

Gustavo Alfonso also impressed, placing second in the men's javelin with a throw of 208-08.

Colorado continues competition Saturday at 10:40 a.m. with the women's 1500 meters.
