Duo Gives CU Half The Honors From League

BOULDER — The Colorado Buffaloes Ski Team added two more chapters to its storied Nordic tradition Thursday as Tilde Baangman and Storm Pedersen were named RMISA Nordic discipline MVPs for the 2026 season.

Baangman earned the Women's Freestyle MVP, while Pedersen captured the Men's Classic MVP, giving Colorado two of the conference's four discipline honors on the Nordic side.

BAANGMAN'S DOMINANT FREESTYLE SEASON

Baangman delivered a commanding freestyle campaign. She won two of the four freestyle races this season and added third- and fourth-place finishes in the other two, accumulating 145 NCAA qualification points — more than 45 points clear of the runner-up.

She was one of only two skiers to win multiple freestyle races and the only RMISA competitor to race in all four freestyle events and finish in the top 10 in each.

So decisive was her season that even counting just three of her four results would have secured the MVP title.

The honor makes Baangman the first Colorado skier to win the women's freestyle MVP since the RMISA expanded from four overall MVPs to eight discipline-specific awards in 2021.

She becomes the sixth women's Nordic skier in program history to earn RMISA MVP recognition, joining Maria Grevsgaard (2006, 2008), Joanne Reid (2013), Petra Hyncivoca (2017), Hedda Baangman (2019), and Hanna Abrahamsson (2023).

With the award, Baangman joins her sister Hedda as two of just six Colorado women to win a Nordic MVP honor.

PEDERSEN SURGES TO CLASSIC TITLE

While Baangman controlled her discipline throughout the season, Pedersen's MVP bid came down to the final weekend.

The freshman competed in all five classic races and closed the year with four straight top-five finishes, including a victory and a third-place result in the final two events. Entering the CU Invitational, six skiers remained mathematically alive for the classic title.

Pedersen responded with a win and a third-place finish to secure the MVP.

He becomes the second Buffalo to win the men's classic MVP since the league adopted the eight-MVP format in 2021, joining Magnus Boee.
Pedersen is also the first freshman in program history to earn an RMISA MVP honor.

The award adds his name to a distinguished list of Colorado men's Nordic MVPs, including Vegard Kjoelhamar (2009), Rune Oedegaard (2015), and Mads Stroem (2016).
