Accambray, Wahlqvist Sweep RMISA GS MVP Awards
March 06, 2026 | Skiing
BOULDER — The Colorado Buffaloes Ski Team continued its historic 2026 season Friday as Louison Accambray and Filip Wahlqvist were named RMISA Giant Slalom MVPs, sweeping the men's and women's honors.
With the two awards, Colorado claimed four of the conference's eight discipline MVPs this season with Tilde Baangman (FS) and Storm Pedersen (CL) being named Nordic MVPs on Thursday.
WAHLQVIST: ADDS GS TO LIST
Wahlqvist earned his third career RMISA MVP, becoming just the second three-time conference MVP in program history, joining Lucie Zikova (2006–08). His first two MVP honors came in slalom; this marks his first in giant slalom.
He becomes the first Buffalo to win the men's GS MVP since Filip Forejtek claimed back-to-back honors in 2021 and 2022. Colorado has now won four of the last six men's GS MVP awards.
After a rocky start that included three DNFs in his first six races, Wahlqvist closed the regular season with eight straight finishes. He completed 11 of 14 races overall — and every one of those 11 finishes was in the top five.
Ten of those 11 were podium finishes, including the final five races of the season.
In giant slalom specifically, he finished all seven races and posted results of:
3rd, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 5th, 2nd, 2nd
That line translates to:
Across those seven races, he defeated 236 of 252 total competitors — a .937 winning percentage against the field.
The two GS victories were the first of his career in the discipline.
Wahlqvist now owns:
His six GS podiums this season tie the Colorado single-season men's GS record set by John Walsh (1987–88).
ACCAMBRAY: REPEAT DOMINANCE
Accambray repeated as Women's GS MVP, becoming the first repeat women's alpine MVP since Lucie Zikova's three-peat from 2006–08.
Her 2026 campaign ranks among the most dominant seasons in program history.
She finished 13 of 14 races — every one on the podium — setting a Colorado alpine single-season record with 13 podium finishes. She opened the season with 11 straight podiums, a program record.
In giant slalom, she posted: 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st, 2nd, 1st
That includes:
Across those seven GS races, she defeated 200 of 209 competitors — a .957 winning percentage against the field.
Her five GS victories match the Colorado women's GS record set by Mikaela Tommy in 2020. Her six total wins this season are one shy of the overall school record of seven set by Zikova in 2006.
Accambray's 13 podiums are the most ever by a Colorado women's alpine skier and second-most overall in program history, trailing only the 14-podium seasons by Frank Brown (1967) and Dave Butts (1960).
She is just the second women's alpine skier in Colorado history to reach double-digit podiums in a season — and now owns the record at 13.
With the two awards, Colorado claimed four of the conference's eight discipline MVPs this season with Tilde Baangman (FS) and Storm Pedersen (CL) being named Nordic MVPs on Thursday.
