Colorado Preps for Last Week on the Road

April 01, 2026 | Tennis

BOULDER – The No. 65 Colorado Buffaloes tennis team is getting ready for the last week of road competition, headed to Arizona for a strong weekend of competition against No. 35 Arizona and No. 14 Arizona State.

Last week, the Buffs had a tough Saturday of competition in Texas, falling short to Texas Tech in a 4-0 finish.

"Every team in the Big 12 is good, Arizona and Arizona State being no exception," said head coach Anthony Pham. "We must keep focusing on ourselves and getting healthy. We will come out with a good mindset and be ready to battle."

Colorado is set to face the Wildcats on Friday, who are currently 15-8 overall with a 6-3 mark in Big 12 play.

The Buffs hold a 10-20 all-time record against Arizona, with the last match ending in favor of Arizona in Boulder a season ago. Colorado will seek its first victory over the Wildcats since 2022, capturing a 6-1 win at home.

The Wildcats are home to one ranked singles player, No. 125 Martyna Ostrzygalo. Ostrzygalo is currently 17-11 this season, with most of her matches at the top position.

To follow on Sunday, Colorado faces Arizona State, which holds a 15-4 overall record and 7-2 conference mark. The Sun Devils have notched seven ranked victories this season, including an early-season victory over then No. 15 Pepperdine.

Colorado will look to find their third series victory against the Sun Devils, and first since 1982. The last matchup against Arizona State took place in the second round of the Big 12 Championship last season, where the Buffs fell 4-1, capturing one singles victory.

Arizona fields one ranked singles player, with Sun Devil Emilija Tverijonaite ranked No. 26. Tverijonaite holds a 15-2 record, playing primarily at the top position.

Competition against Arizona will begin on Friday at Noon (M.T.) at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center in Tucson. On Sunday, Colorado also faces Arizona State at Noon, held at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe. More information and live results can be found @cubuffstennis.
