Colorado Adds Transfer Kira Reynolds to 2026-27 Roster

BOULDER – The Colorado women's basketball team has signed transfer rising sophomore forward Kira Reynolds (South Bend, Ind./South Bend Washington HS) from UT Arlington, head coach JR Payne announced Tuesday, April 14.
 
Reynolds saw action in all 33 of UT Arlington's games in the 2025-26 season and led the team with 27 starts. She averaged 26.3 minutes, 13.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 2.4 blocks per game on the year, while also leading her team in total points (430), rebounds (260), and blocks (78). Reynolds was named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Newcomer of the Week four times throughout the season (Dec. 1, Dec. 8, Jan. 12, Jan. 20) and was selected to the All-WAC Freshman Team.
 
"Kira is a dynamic playmaker who brings toughness, competitiveness, and a high basketball IQ to our program," head coach JR Payne said. "She has a great feel for the game and the ability to impact both ends of the floor. What really stands out is her motor and her ability to score both inside and out. We're excited about the energy and toughness she'll bring to our group."
 
Reynolds had double-digit points 21 times in the 2025-26 season, as well as eight double-doubles, 20 or more points seven times, and double-digit rebounds nine times. She finished the season shooting 45.2% from the field overall, 60% or more six times, 50% or more 15 times, and 40% or more 21 times.
 
A graduate of South Bend Washington HS, Reynolds was a four-star recruit with a 91 rating by ESPN HoopGurlz, as well as the 96th prospect nationally, 20th-ranked PF, and fourth-ranked player in the state of Indiana, according to 247Sports for the class of 2025. She was ranked 14th in the nation and first in the state of Indiana in blocks per game her senior year with 6.5, and during her 2024-25 senior campaign, Reynolds played in 26 games and averaged 14.8 points, 13.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 6.5 blocks, and 3.5 steals per game. She is the first student-athlete, male or female, to record a quintuple-double in the state of Indiana when she finished with 14 points, 18 rebounds, 12 assists, 11 steals, and 10 blocks in a contest against New Prairie (Jan. 4, 2025).
 
Reynolds is the daughter of two college and professional basketball players, Steve and Marcy Reynolds, and she has six siblings. Her father, Steve, played collegiately at Western Michigan, where he was an All-MAC Second Team selection in 2002 behind 16.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, and still ranks fifth in program history with 31.7 minutes per game and third in single-game three-pointers with eight.
 
Amidst the transfer portal season, Colorado has also announced a number of returning Buffs, a list that so far includes Zyanna WalkerJade CrookKennedy Sanders, Maeve McErlane, Sophie Zadel, and Claire O'Connor.

Colorado women's basketball wrapped up the 2025-26 season with its 17th NCAA Tournament appearance all-time, falling 66-57 in the First Round to seven-seed Illinois (Mar. 21). CU finished sixth in the Big 12 conference with an 11-7 record, going 22-12 overall and 14-3 at home. The Buffs have won over 20 games in each of the last five seasons and have appeared in the NCAA Tournament in four of the last five years.
