Colorado Opens NCAA Regional Play Monday In Bryan, Texas

BRYAN, Texas—The Colorado Buffaloes men's golf team is set to compete at the Bryan Regional of the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas May 18-20.

The Buffaloes earned the No. 9 seed in the regional, announced by the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee on Wednesday, May 6.
Colorado enters the NCAA postseason ranked No. 54 nationally in the Clippd/Scoreboard team rankings and will face one of the nation's strongest regional fields. The 14-team field includes No. 4 Texas, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 21 New Mexico, No. 27 Texas A&M, No. 34 TCU, No. 40 UNC Wilmington, No. 45 UNLV, No. 58 Cincinnati and No. 66 Chattanooga, along with Miami (Ohio), UT Rio Grande Valley and Arkansas Pine Bluff.
Colorado has competed against four teams in the Bryan Regional field this season, posting a combined 3-7-1 head-to-head record against New Mexico (1-3), TCU (1-2), Cincinnati (1-1) and UNCW (0-1).
The Buffaloes enter postseason play with a 139-60-4 overall head-to-head record against Division I opponents this season.
"We only worry about ourselves," Edwards said. "It is pretty simple at the regional, you play well and you should be in the mix to advance. It's very important to really focus on the task at hand and just play your normal game and see how it works out at the end."
Edwards announced Colorado's regional lineup, featuring senior Hunter Swanson, juniors Brandon Knight and Ty Holbrook, sophomore Parker Paxton and graduate student Jackson Rivera. Freshman Tyler Long will serve as the alternate.
"These guys are for sure ready and should be very excited to have this opportunity," Edwards said. "Coach Tolan and I are very confident in our six guys that are here."
Swanson leads Colorado with a 70.47 stroke average this season and 17 subpar rounds, while ranking second on the team with 129 birdies and a team best 85.3 percent par or better percentage. He has posted seven top 20 finishes this season, including a pair of top 10 finishes, and enters the NCAA Regional with 49 career events played, the most among active Buffaloes.
Knight has recorded a team-high 138 birdies and 21 eagles this season, adding four top-10 finishes and 17 subpar rounds. He tied for second at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and finished seventh at the Arizona State Thunderbird Collegiate this spring.
Holbrook has turned in four top 10 finishes this year including a tie for a third-place finish at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. He ranks among the team leaders with 132 birdies and 15 subpar rounds.
Paxton has been one of Colorado's most explosive scorers throughout the season, tying the CU single round record with 10 birdies during the Ka'anapali Classic and recording three top five finishes. His 64 at Ka'anapali matched the team's low round of the year.
Rivera has added four top 20 finishes this season and tied for second at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate. He also tied a CU record with 18 pars in a single round at the UNM Tucker Invitational.
Long has provided depth throughout the season, posting 11 subpar rounds and a top 10 finish at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational
The Bryan Regional will feature 54 holes over three rounds. Six regional sites will determine the NCAA Championship field, with the top five teams from each regional advancing, along with the top individual not on an advancing team. The NCAA Championship Finals will be held May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
Traditions Club at Texas A&M University is a Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II co design stretching 7,146 yards. The course features hardwood lined fairways, natural creeks and wetlands, along with views of Kyle Field and the Texas A&M campus skyline.
Colorado is one of 12 Big 12 Conference programs selected to NCAA Regionals. BYU and Kansas will compete in the Athens Regional, Colorado, Cincinnati, and TCU were selected to Bryan, Arizona State and Utah will play in Columbus, Texas Tech heads to Corvallis, Oklahoma State, Arizona and West Virginia will compete in Marana, and Houston will play in Winston Salem.
The Buffaloes will get their first look at Traditions Club on Sunday with a practice round ahead of Monday's opening round of competition.
