2018: Indoor: During Gonzales’ 2018 indoor campaign, he raced the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. He competed at the Colorado Invitational in the 3,000 meters in February and brought home third place with a time of 8:16.47. Later in the month he raced at the MPSF Championships and recorded a personal record of 8:03.55 and finishing 11th place. Gonzales also competed in the 5,000 meters at the MPSF Championships clocking in at 14:02.51 for seventh place, a personal record for him.
Outdoor: Gonzales competed in the 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meters during his outdoor season. At the Pac-12/Big Ten Challenge, he clocked in at 8:17.73 earning second place and setting a personal record. He raced at the Pac-12 Championships in May in both the 5k and the 10k. In the 5k he placed 19th with a time of 14:44.04, and in the 10k he finished seventh with a time of 30:01.67.
2017: Indoor: Gonzales’ indoor season consisted of him racing the 3,000 and 5,000-meters. He competed twice in the 3k with a time of 8:30.88 at the Potts Invitational where he finished first and an 8:31.37 at the Colorado Open. He also competed twice in the 5k, and recorded a PR of 14:19.24 at the MPSF Championships.
Outdoor: Gonzales had a strong showing in the 3k during the outdoor campaign. He placed second in the 3k at the CU Invite (4/8) while also earning himself a personal record with a time of 8:32.34. His highlight of the year came at the Pac-12 Championships where he finished eighth in the 10,000-meters with a PR of 29:33.47, which earned a point towards the team score and advanced him to the NCAA West Preliminary Championships. There, Gonzales finished 35th.
2016: Indoor: Did not compete.
Outdoor: Gonzales was finally healthy enough to compete during the outdoor season, racing in the 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs. His best performance was in the 5k where won the second section at the Bryan Clay Invite in 14:36.37.
2015: Indoor: Redshirt. Did not compete.

CROSS COUNTRY: (2018) Gonzales finished his career with a 41st place finish at the Pac-12 Championship. He competed at the NCAA Championship and finished as the fifth runner for the fourth-place team with a 147th finish.
(2017) Gonzales continued to do well for the Buffs as a junior, starting with a win at the Colorado State Invitational. In his next race, the Joe Piane Invitational, Gonzales placed 57th overall, but improved to 45th at the NCAA Pre-National Invitational. At the Pac-12 Championship, Gonzales earned a 41st place finish. He scored for the Buffs as the fifth harrier at regionals, finishing 28th overall, before placing 177th at NCAAs.
(2016) After dealing with injuries for his first two seasons, Gonzales was able to return to the cross country course as a sophomore and had a great season as a member of the varsity squad. He started the campaign by finishing seventh overall at the Colorado State Invitational before placing ninth at the Rocky Mountain Shootout. Gonzales was CU’s sixth match at NCAA Pre-Nationals, placing 54th overall. He moved up to 52nd at the Pac-12 Championships and was 49th at regionals. Gonzales served as CU’s alternate at nationals.

HIGH SCHOOL: Gonzales earned four letters on the cross country team and four letters as a member of the track and field team at BHS. He was the runner-up at the 2013 Colorado 4A Cross Country Championships, helping the Eagles to their first state championship. Gonzales also recorded a pair of runner-up finishes at the 2014 Colorado 4A Track & Field Championships in the 1,600-meter run (4:19.37) and 3,200 (9:25.55). His time in the 1,600 is the BHS record, and he also owns the school record in the 3,200 (9:18.16). As a junior, Gonzales placed third in the 1,600 and was second in the 3,200 at state. He was also recruited by Princeton, Notre Dame, Portland, California and Memphis.
HIGH SCHOOL BESTS: 1,600-meters: 4:16.73; 3,200-meters: 9:00.58.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Gonzales is an environmental engineering major and is also earning a minor in leadership studies and owns a GPA greater than 3.00.
PERSONAL: Ethan Alexander Gonzales was born on March 25, 1996 in Denver, Colo. He is the son of Charles and Tammy Gonzales of Westminster, Colo. He has one sister, Ivy. Gonzales lists his hobbies as swimming, biking, hiking and camping.
