2021: Indoor: Competed six times for the Buffs ... Set a personal best of 18.37m (60-3.25) in the weight throw at the Mines Front Range #3 meet.
Outdoor: Competed six times for the Buffs ... Set a personal best of 48.86m (160-4) in the discus throw at the Fresno State West Coast Relays.

2020: Indoor: Redshirted ... Had massive personal bests in the weight throw to moved himself into the top-10 in school history.

2019: Indoor: Competed in the weight throw in seven different meets ... Threw a new best of 16.76m (55-0) at the Air Force Open ... Placed 21st in the MPSF Championships in the weight throw.
Outdoor: Competed in many meets during the outdoor season in the hammer and discus ... Set a pair of personal best at the Colorado Invitational with a 53.84m (176-8) hammer throw and a 46.32m (152-0) in the discus ... Placed 15th at the Pac-12 Championships in the hammer and 18th in the discus.
2018: Indoor: Focused on the weight throw during in the indoor season, competing in six different meets ... Had a best of 15.13 meters (49-7.75) at the Air Force Invitational.
Outdoor: Competed in 10 different meets during the outdoor season ... Threw a personal best in the first meet at 51.34m (168-5) in the hammer throw at the Jerry Quiller Classic ... Placed 16th at the Pac-12 Championships in the hammer.
2017: Indoor: Weight throwing was Penner’s specialty in his first indoor season. He competed in four meets for the Buffaloes and recorded his longest mark at the Joe Davie’s Classic (2/17) by hitting a mark of 44-3.75/13.50. Outdoor: Penner set personal records for himself in two throwing events during his 2016-17 outdoor season: discus and the hammer throw. At the CU Invite (4/8) Penner threw a PR of 132-4.5/40.34 in the discus and a few weeks earlier at the Fum McGraw Open (3/25) threw a PR of 134-4/40.95 in the hammer throw.

HIGH SCHOOL: Penner focused on the discus during his track and field career. He recorded his personal best of 133-8 at the Boulder Country Championships, placing third overall, on April 20, 2016. Penner also played tennis throughout his high school career and had a serve over 100 mph.

IN THE CLASSROOM: Penner is an engineering physics major.

PERSONAL: Caleb James Penner was born on November 23, 1997. He is the son of Steven and Jamie Penner and also has one sister, Ellie. Penner enjoys hiking, rock climbing, backpacking and camping.
