AT BOISE STATE: Venters ran two seasons at BSU, recording two All-Mountain West First Team, two All-West Region and one All-American honor on the cross country team. At the 2018 NCAA Championships, she was the second Bronco to cross the finish, placing 39th, an improvement from 53rd in her freshman season. Venters was also 11th at the regional championship and placed sixth at the Mountain West Championship in 2018. In 2017, she was 22nd at regionals and seventh at conference.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Venters excelled in both cross country and track and field at Lawrence Free State High School, winning five state titles. Two of those titles came in cross country (2013 and ’14), while the other three were on the track. She won the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs as a senior in 2017, and in 2014, she was the 3,200 champion. In total, Venters recorded 10 top-10 finishes at the Kansas High School State Championships.
 
HIGH SCHOOL BESTS: 800-meter: 2:19.02; 1,600-meters: 4:49.36; 3,200-meters: 10:16.61.
 
IN THE CLASSROOM: Venters is majoring in integrative physiology.
 
PERSONAL: Emily Lin Venters was born on June 6, 1999 in Lawrence, Kan. She is the daughter of Trey and Tricia Venters, and has one brother, Zach. Venters enjoys decorating cakes, hiking and being with family and friends. She is a 15-year cancer survivor as she was diagnosed with leukemia at age 3.
