Career—Bervy started all 46 possible races in his four-year career and finished 34 of them with 17 top 20 and to top 10 performances. Both of his top 10 and 11 of his 17 top 20s came in slalom races. He eanred four letters in his career.
2022 (Senior)—Bervy started all 12 of his races in his senior season, finishing nine of them with five top 20 performances, all coming int he first five races of the season as he got off to a solid start. His best finishes came in the same week as he took 13th in the slalom race at the Montana State Invitational and 14th in the GS race at the Utah Invitatioanl five days later. He earned his fourth letter and was honored with the Ceal Barry Leadership Award at the CUSPY Awards and was given the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Distinguished Service Award for his commitment to the SAAC organization.
2021 (Junior)—Bervy got off his junior season to a fantastic start, earning career best performances in both disciplines in the Colorado series of races. At Aspen in GS races at the DU Invitational, he took 12th in the second race before his best set of races at the CU Invitational at Eldora, where he took 10th in both slalom races, his first two career top 10 finishes. He continued his good skiing in Utah, finishing five of six races with four top 20 finishes, earning 14th and 19th place slalom finishes at Snowbird and 16th at Park City in the RMISA Championships. He also finished 18th in the GS race at the RMISA Championships, giving him seven top 20 performances in eight overall finishes. Seven of his 12 top 20 performances came this season in his eight finished races, compared to five top 20s in his first 17 finished races his first two seasons.
2020 (Sophomore)—He finished nine of 12 races, including the last six, with five top 20 finishes, the first five of his career. Four of the five top 20s came in slalom action and his first top 20 in GS was in Bozeman in the GS qualifier when he took 14th place. He was the Buffs second finisher twice and third finisher twice to earn a letter for the second straight season. In Aspen to open the season, he didn’t finish the GS qualifier race and then took 29th in the GS and 20th in the slalom in the races that were a part of the DU Invitational. At Eldora, he just finished one of three races, the slalom that was a part of the CU Invitational, where he took 14th place. He then finished each of the last six races of the season, placing 24th in the GS and 15th the slalom as part of the Utah Invitational and then 21st in the slalom qualifier at Park City before his career best of 14th in the GS qualifier and 29th in the GS and 17th in the slalom as part of the RMISA Championships in Bozeman.
2019 (Freshman)—Bervy started all 12 races in 2019 and finished eight of them, earning a letter in his first season. He finished eight of 10 races as part of collegiate meets, earning DNF's in the two RMISA Alpine Qualifier races, one DQ at New Mexico in a slalom race and a DNF in the GS race in Alaska as part of RMISA Championships. He had his best GS finish out of the gate at Eldora in the CU Invitational, taking 24th. He saved his best slalom finish for the end of the season, taking 24th at the RMISA Championships, improving throughout the season. He scored for the team four times in his eight finishes, recording the third best finish on the team four times, all in slalom races both in Montana and Alaska.
Prior To CU—Bervy has competed for the Ski & Snowboard Club Vail team for the past 11 years and in that time has been coached by some former CU greats including Erika Ghent, Max Lamb, Fletcher McDonald and current assistant coach Stefan Hughes. He was also a member of the National Training Group, a development team for the US Ski Team. He was the U16 giant slalom champion and the U14 national champion in his time at SSCV, and also took 15th at the Seven Nations race in Chourchevel, France, in a race that featured the top six kids from seven different nations around the world. He has skied in FIS sanctioned races since 2016 and has more than 100 race starts to his credit and has finished more than 60 of those races. He has compiled 22 top 20, 11 top 10 and three top five finishes including two fifth place finishes in GS races at Winter Park and a fourth place GS finish at Lusten Mountains in 2018. He finished 34th in the slalom and Super G at Sun Valley at the 2018 US National Championships and took 31st in the slalom at the 2017 US National Championships at Sugarloaf.
High School—Bervy attended Vail Ski and Snowbaord Academy and graduated in 2018. He was a member of the principle's Honor Roll in high school. On top of skiing, he played soccer and was an honorable mention all-conference performer.
In the Classroom—Bervy is majoring in Psychology at Colorado. His goals after college are to ski for the U.S. Ski Team or divert his path to medical school. He did an internship with the Steadman/Phillippon Research Institute and received a certificate of completed summer scholars program with some of the most prestigious orthopedic surgeons in the world.
Personal—Maxim Alexis Bervy III was born on March 22, 2000, in Boulder, Colo. His parents are Max Jr., and Amie Bervy. He has one sister, Katie, who ski races and plays soccer. His mother skied for the Buffs from 1983-87 and his uncle skied at Nevada. His dad skied in and produced Warren Miller Films for 25 years. His hobbies including mountain biking, wake surfing and soccer. He enjoys being on the water and he really likes cats. He claims he and his sister ski identically. He volunteered for the Minturn Roadside Cleanup and Hiking and Mountain Biking trail maintenance.
Why Colorado—"I chose Colorado because I love the ski program but most importantly I love the town of Boulder which is home to me and the lifestyle of the campus fits my personality. I've always wanted to ski race at CU so when the opportunity came my way, I was very enthusiastic to say the least."
