2011: Indoor: Mullen competed in four meets during his final indoor season for the Buffs and had the top four throws by a Buff this season. He recorded his season-best throw at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight (2/18), placing first with a toss of 56-11. The following weekend at the Big 12 Championships Mullen recorded a throw of 56-05.75 to finish 11th overall.
Outdoor: Mullen became the ninth-best performer in CU history in the hammer throw during his final campaign. He had a PR of 172-04 at the CU Invite (4/9) and placed third. Mullen was also third at the Potts Invite (3/18) with a throw of 172-03. At the Big 12 Championships he was 14th in the hammer throw (170-08). Mullen also recorded his season-best toss in the discus at the Big 12 meet and was just shy of his PR at 155-02 which was 19th overall.
2010: Indoor: Mullen concentrated on the weight throw his second year at CU. He recorded a personal record 55-08.25 at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight meet and placed second overall. It was the best throw all season for the Buffs. At the Big 12 meet one week later, Mullen launched the weight 54-08.25 to place 11th.
Outdoor: Mullen threw the discus and hammer during the outdoor campaign. He took seventh in the hammer at the Fum McGraw Open (5/8) with a PR of 171-00, the fourth best of the season for CU. He placed 16th at the conference meet in the hammer after recording his top throw of 163-01. Mullen also took 16th at Big 12s in the discus with a PR throw of 156-02.
2009: Indoor: Mullen threw the shot put and the weight throw during the indoor season. He launched a toss of 40-11.50, a personal record, at the Air Force Invite (2/14). Mullen's best toss in the weight throw came at the Big 12 meet where he recorded a mark of 53-01.00 and placed 17th.
Outdoor: Mullen shifted gears in the outdoor season to the discus and hammer throws. He placed ninth at the Jack Christianson Invite (4/25) with a PR of 162-07. His best event was the discus and he launched a personal best of 155-09 at the Big 12 Meet, which placed 15th overall.
HIGH SCHOOL: Mullen was the Colorado State 2A Champion in the discus with a personal and school record throw of 159-10. He was named all-state and all-conference. Mullen also threw the shot put. He also was a member of the football and basketball teams. Mullen was named the player of the year (basketball) as a senior.
PERSONAL: Trey Steven Mullen was born on Nov. 9, 1988 in Eugene, Ore. His parents are Steve, who played football at Montana State, and Donna of Lyons, Colo. He has two siblings, Chase (who threw on the track and field team) and McCall. He lists his hobbies as hiking, mountain biking, fishing, snowboarding and basketball.
