2006 OUTLOOK: Andy broke on to the national level last indoor season when he provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put. He will be a strong Big 12 competitor and hopes to make it to both NCAA Championships.
2005: Passen turned in a solid indoor season, setting two personal records and notching two first place finishes while competing in the shot put and weight throw. His personal record setting shot put throw of 58-03.75 was good enough to earn him first place at the Don Barrett Air Force Open and his weight throw of 57-09.50 at the Husky Open was also a personal best. Passen also took first place in the shot put at the Air Force Classic in February with his throw of 55-03.50.
He took a redshirt the outdoor season.
2004: During the indoor season, Passen had the top two throws on the team in the shot put, as he posted a season-best 53-00.75 in a third-place finish at the Air Force Classic. He also competed in the weight throw, where he threw a personal-best 47-05.00 at the Colorado Invitational, for seventh place.
2003: During the outdoor season, Passen competed in the shot put, hammer throw and javelin events. He owned the top two team marks in the shot put, including his season-best, first place 53-03.00 at the CU Twilight. He also notched the top score on the squad in the javelin, a 92-08.00 throw for a seventh-place finish at the CU Twilight.
2002: Passen’s outdoor shot put of 52-0.50 marked a season-best and was enough to win him fifth at the Jack Christensen Invitational. He finished first at the Air Force Quadrangular (51-8.50), second at the ASU Invitational (51-0), and third at the Colorado Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: Passen set his school record for shot put at 55-5. His senior season, he was an all-conference selection, a team captain, and won his county and sectionals in the shot put. He was also all-conference and second in county throwing the discus.
