2010: Indoor: Echer competed in five different events in her first season with the Buffs. She ran a personal-record of 64.92 in the 400-meters and reached a height of 5-11 in the high jump at the Air Force Invite (2/12). Echer recorded her other three PRs at the Colorado School of Mines Twilight Open. She ran the 60-hurdles in 9.62, the 800 in 2:39.68 and jumped 16-01 in the long jump.
Outdoor: Echer competed in one heptathlon for the Buffs. She placed eighth at the Glenn Morris Multi-Events meet with 3,718 points, recording PRs in the shot put (27-11), 200-meters (27.35) and 800 (2:44.80).
2009 (at Oregon): Echer competed in three meets during the outdoor season for the Ducks. She ran the 200-meter dash once at Oregon Relays with a mark of 26.93 seconds. Echer also ran the 100-meter hurdles twice. She ran a mark of 15.61 at the Oregon Preview.
HIGH SCHOOL: Echer was a state qualifier in the triple jump and the 300-meter hurdles for Mullen High School. She finished third in the 300 hurdles as a sophomore in 2006 (45.64). The Mustangs were the Colorado State 4A Track & Field State and Centennial League Champions in 2005 and ‘06.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Echer intends to major in integrated physiology and is also interested in international affairs. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society and was honored with the Torch Award her freshman through senior years.
PERSONAL: Stephanie Jean Echer was born on December 31, 1989 in Littleton, Colo. Her parents are Dennis, who competed in football and track and field at Colorado School of Mines, and Lauri Echer. She has three siblings, Cassie, Ryan and Troy. Echer lists her hobbies as reading and collecting postcards.
