2005 Outlook: Magle has made tremendous progress, showing in her provisional leap in CU’s inter-squad meet in December. With a little more speed work, her technique will be 100 percent according to position coach Jiri Cechak. She has the potential to compete following college.
2004: Magle had the top three performances on the team in the high jump, highlighted by her win at the Colorado Invitational and her eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, both with a jump of 5-6. She also competed in the long jump, placing third at the Colorado Invitational with a jump of 16-11. In the outdoor season, Magle competed in the high jump. She placed sixth at the Big 12 Championships, and she took home a win at the Jack Christensen Invite with a regional qualifying jump of 5-8.
2003: Magle finished the 2003 season with three of the top four scores on the team in the indoor high jump and the top four marks during the outdoor season. Her 5-5 at the Air Force Classic was a first place finish, while her 5-4.5 took sixth at the Frank Sevigne Invite. During the outdoor season Magle finished second in the high jump at the Pepsi Team Invite (5-7) and 10th at the Big 12 Championships. She also had three wins at the Ram Open, Jim Click Invite and CU Twilight.
2002: Magle finished ninth in the indoor high jump at the Husker Invitational (5-4.25), and 13th in the long jump (16-3). She also participated in the indoor shot put and 60-meter hurdles. In the outdoor high jump, Magle finished third at the Jack Christensen Invite (5-6) and went on to the Big 12 Championships to set a personal record (5-7) in a seventh place finish. She took fourth in javelin at the Air Force Quadrangular (77-11) and fifth in the heptathlon at the Wildcat Combined, setting a personal record with 3,599 points. She also won the high jump in the Air Force Quadrangular (5-5), second at the Colorado Invitational (5-4), third at the Tom Benich Classic (5-5.75) and fourth at the ASU Invitational (5-3).
High School: Magle was the Colorado 5A State Champion in high jump as a senior at Heritage in Littleton, Colo. She lettered all four years and was all-state her senior year. Magle also competed in the long jump and triple jump, soccer, cross country, and basketball in high school.
Academics: A kinesiology major, Magle would like to become a physician’s assistant. She has a better than 3.0 grade point average and has spent five semesters on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. She was named second-team Academic All-Big 12 in 2003 and ?04.
Personal: Born on December 10, 1982 in Green Bay, Wis., Anna Besterveldt Magle played prep basketball with high school All-American Ann Strother, who now competes for Connecticut.
