CAREER UPDATE: Ryan Campbell is the Colorado indoor 200-meter record holder (21.02) and ranks seventh in the 60-meter run (6.76) and is third on the performance list. His name is also in the outdoor record book. He ranks eighth in the 100 (10.32), and 15th in the 200 (20.78) as well as a member of the 4x100 school record relay team (39.47). Campbell also ranks fourth on the top performers list in the 100 and is sixth in the 200. He earned his first All-American honor as a member of that relay in 2007 when the team finished sixth overall. Campbell has earned 10 All-Big 12 accolades (five relays and five individual).

2008: Campbell didn’t have the indoor season that he had hoped for in 2008, but he still ran some of the top marks for the Buffs. Campbell’s best mark in the 60-meter dash came in the prelims at the Big 12 Championship. He placed 10th, failing to qualify for the finals with a time of 6.82. Campbell’s top mark in the 200m was 21.27 at the Don Barrett Open, earning a third-place finish. He qualified for the finals at the Big 12 Championship in the event and placed seventh (21.50). During the outdoor season, Campbell once again focused on the 200m and the 4x100m relay. At the Big 12 Championship, he qualified for the finals by placing eighth and would keep that position in the finals, clocking a time of 20.99. During the same meet, he was part of the 4x100m relay which broke a 37-year-old record by .01 seconds at 39.59. He also raced in the 4x400m relay which set the eighth best time in CU history. Campbell advanced to regionals in the in the 200m and took 10th. At the regional meet, the 4x100m relay advanced to the NCAA Championship with another school record 39.47. The relay did not finish in the prelims at NCAAs.

2007: Campbell led the team last year in the 60 and 200-meter dashes during the indoor season, as well as the 100 and 200 during the outdoor season. The indoor season saw Campbell take first place honors at the Potts Indoor Invite in the 60, coming in with a time of 6.80. His pr in the 60 came at the Air Force Invite, where Campbell ran a 6.76 for a second place finish and the tied for the seventh best time in school history. At Big 12 Indoors he took fourth in the conference in the 60 with a 6.79 time and seventh in the 200m at 21.18. Campbell ran a school record in the 200 at the Last Chance meet in Ames, Iowa, bettering the former record of 21.34. The mark qualified him for the NCAA Championships where he raced to a 12th-place finish in the prelims (21.14). During the outdoor season, Campbell recorded a time of 10.33 at the Tom Benich Invitational in the 100, as well as at the Wyoming Invitational. The time is the sixth fastest ever by a CU athlete. Campbell advanced to the NCAA Midwest Regional meet in the 100, placing eighth at a time of 10.44. Campbell also competed in the 200, setting a pr at the Big 12 Outdoors by running 20.78 to place 6th. He went on to the NCAA Outdoor Championships where he placed 16th overall in the semis. Campbell was a member of the first men’s 4x100-meter relay team to qualify for the NCAA Championship in over 30 years. The team placed sixth (39.98) to earn All-American honors.  

2006: Campbell was unable to compete during the indoor season, but made an impact during the outdoor season. He ran the 100 and 200m dashes, as well as participated in the relays. In the 100, he set a pr of 10.62 at the Jack Christiansen Invite where he placed third overall. The mark was also the best by a Buff for the season. Campbell recorded a first-place finish in the 100m at the Ris Western/Air Force Twilight (10.92). At the conference championship, he placed 17th in the 200 (21.69) and 13th in the 100 (10.67). As a member of the 4x100m relay, he ran the second leg of the relay at regionals where the team finished in 40.45. At the Big 12 Championship, the team took fifth in the 4x100m relay (40.64).

2005 (at Alliant International): Campbell set the school records in the 60, 100 and 200m while at Alliant International and lettered one year.

HIGH SCHOOL: As a track and field participant; he set two school records at CHS. Campbell ran the 100 in 10.45 and the 200 in 21.7.

ACADEMICS: Campbell is majoring in political science at Colorado. He was named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll following the fall ’06 semester.

PERSONAL: Ryan Charles Campbell was born on March 29, 1986 in Denver. His parents are Gregg Campbell and Pat Warren. He is the youngest of three children with two older sisters. His has two sisters: Camille and Corey who is a twin. Campbell has one step-brother, Matt. He enjoys running and hanging out with his family during his spare time.
