2007 OUTLOOK: Mark continues to improve and should make great strides this season in the long jump.

2006: Ebert participated in the long jump during the indoor and outdoor seasons. He recorded a personal best on the indoor side at the Air Force Invite with a leap of 21-07.25, taking seventh place. Ebert recorded four jumps in the outdoor season, including a personal best at the Potts Invite (20-03.50) for seventh place.

2005:  Ebert began his Colorado career in the indoor season, competing in the 400, the 600-yard and the 800-meter runs. His best finish was a fifth place mark at the Colorado Open 600 run with a time of 1:17.95. He finished in 12th place at the Air Force Classic 800 with a time of 2:09.57 and 25th place in the 400 with a time of 51.60. In the outdoor season Ebert ran in both the 200 and 400 runs, setting a personal record time of 23.77 at the Jack Christiansen Invitational 200 and a 51.71 in the 400. He also ran in the 4X400 relay at the Tom Benich Invitational, finishing with a time of 3:32.64.

HIGH SCHOOL: A one-time letterman in both cross country and track, Ebert was a late bloomer in high school, as he didn’t run track until his senior year. He was a member of Mullen’s 2004 4A State Championship track team when he competed in the 400-meter dash and 4x200 and 4x400-meter relays. His personal best in the 400 was a time of 50.8, while he finished first in regionals and 10th at the state meet. His 4x200 relay team took home an overall fourth place at state. With the help of his strong efforts, that 4x200 relay unit was a second-team all-Centennial League selection. On the cross country course he posted a personal best 19:20 in the 5k run.

ACADEMICS: Ebert is an environmental engineering major, with a focus on geology so he can pursue a career in environmental law someday. He also is interested in philosophy. Ebert has been named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll on several occasions. During high school, he was a three-time Torch Award winner, an honor that recognizes academic and extracurricular excellence. His senior year, he earned National Merit Scholarship Commendation. Ebert was also a state qualifier on the debate team his junior and senior years.

PERSONAL: Mark Ebert was born February 27, 1986 in Denver, Colo. to parents Lee and Darlene Ebert. Colorado was his first school of choice because of its challenging and nationally respected engineering program. He enjoys snowboarding, reading and listening to music in his spare time. He has also volunteered at the Denver Health and Science Center fixing computers.
