2008 OUTLOOK: Chris has scored for us at the conference championships in 06. He is training the hardest of his life and hopes to help us again in May when we host the Big 12.

2007: Pannone raced the 3 and 5k during the indoor season. He placed 22nd at the conference championship in the 3k and was 12th in the 5k. Pannone’s highest finish during the indoor season was second at the Air Force Invite in the 3k. During the outdoor season Pannone competed in the 5 and 10k. Pannone’s best time in the 5k was 14:25.78 at the Stanford Invite where he placed 23rd. He raced in the 10k at the conference meet and took 14th overall (31:38.45).

2006: Pannone participated in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter races in the indoor season. He earned a personal record of 8:28.46 in the 3k during the Big 12 Championship where he finished 29th. In the 5k, Pannone ran his best time at the Husky Classic (14:25.79), finishing 28th. At the league championship, he placed 12th (14:33.75). During the outdoor season, Pannone ran in the 1,500, 5k and 10k. He earned his first Big 12 honor in the 10k by placing third overall at the conference championship in a mark of 30:31.57, in extremely hot conditions. Pannone placed second in the 1,500 in both races, once at the Colorado Invitational (3:56.74, pr) and at the Potts Invitational (4:02.37). His personal best in the 5k was at the Cardinal Invitational. He ran a regional qualifying mark of 14:09.40 and finished sixth. Pannone also ran the 5k at the conference championship, placing 20th overall (15:09.25).

2005: Pannone competed in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor season, he recorded an 8:32.12 in the 3k race at the Big 12 Indoors and a 15:49.27 in the 5k race at the Air Force Open to earn fifth place. In the outdoor campaign, Pannone set personal records in both races, recording a 8:58.10 time in the Colorado Invitational 3k race and a 14:58.81 in the 5k race at the Oregon Invitational.

CROSS COUNTRY: In 2005 Pannone competed in three races, taking the crown at the Air Force Invitational. At the Rocky Mountain Shootout he finished 14th and at the Pre-National Invitational he finished 29th in the open race. Pannone ran in three races in 2006, including one postseason meet. He placed 26th at Big 12’s as the seventh man. In 2007 Pannone started off on the ?B’ team, racing to an eighth-place finish at the Fort Hays Invite (second Buff). At pre-nats the following week, Pannone was seventh overall in the open race. As a member of the varsity squad, his best finish came at regionals when he placed 14th overall as CU’s fifth racer. Pannone owned his first all-region honor and a chance to compete at nationals when he finished 152nd.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track (800-m, 3200-m) for head coach Ludwig Lubaszka, Pannone owns the Hunterdon Central record in the 3,200-m (9:02 at the 2004 Indoor State Championships) as well as several cross country course marks. His Eastern State Championship finish was the 10th fastest at storied Van Cortlandt Park and on Van Cortlandt’s 2.5 mile course, his 12:22 is the third best for a New Jersey prep runner trailing Brad Hudson (12:15) and Jason DiJoseph (12:20). The Red Devils were the 2000, ’01 and ’02 Skyland Conference Cross Country champions and 2002 Central N.J. Sectional champions. As a junior he was a first-team all-state performer in cross country and finished 15th (15:59.19) at the Foot Locker Northeast Region Championship. He repeated his all-state title as a senior in addition to being named the All-Area Runner of the Year, finishing 26th (16:11.8) at Foot Locker Regionals and second team all-state in the 3,200-m. His pr’s include 800-m (1:55), 1,600-m (4:17) and 3,200-m (9:02). Pannone considered Florida and North Carolina State before committing to Colorado.

ACADEMICS: Pannone is an open option major at CU after spending his entire prep career as an honor roll student.

PERSONAL: Born May 18, 1986 in Louisville, Ky., Christopher James Pannone is the only son of Patricia Pannone of Whitehouse, N.J. His hobbies include playing poker and spending time with friends. His volunteer work includes collecting and donating old shoes to the needy. Due to childhood asthma, he didn’t begin running until the fifth grade.
