Rokos on Perricone ? “In her last season, Lisa seems to be putting all of the parts of the puzzle together. She most recently documented how good of a skier she is in the preseason and I’m just hoping that her success will last for her all the way to March and she is able to come into what Lucie has left open for her.”
2008 ? Perricone had another strong season for the Buffs as she claimed five top-10 finishes and finished eight races in the top-15. Her only finishes out of the top-15 were due to falls or skiing off-course, causing her to hike. Her season-best finish in the GS came at the Western State Invitational where she led all Buffaloes for the first time of the season, taking third. Perricone took sixth in the slalom a week later in New Mexico, which set her up to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships for the third-straight season. Perricone earned second-team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships with a 10th place finish in the slalom. She was 12th after her first run, but posted the sixth fastest time her second time down the mountain to crack the top-10. Perricone uncharacteristically took 33rd in the GS two days prior because she was thrown off-course while trying to overcome a painful bone spur, which kept her from potentially recording double top-10 finishes at NCAA’s.
2007 ? After a solid freshman year, Perricone proved to be just as strong in his sophomore campaign. She placed in the top-10 in all but two races. She finally cracked the top-five in impressive fashion when she claimed her second career victory in the women’s slalom at the RMISA Championships with a time of 1:34.22. Perricone earned first-team All-America honors after her fifth place finish in the GS at the NCAA Championships and placed ninth in the slalom, nabbing second-team honors. She was named second-team All-RMISA and was RMISA Skier of the Week after her performance at the RMISA Championships.
2006 ? Perricone had a fantastic freshman year for the Buffaloes, racing to top 10 finishes in all but one race for Colorado. She posted one win on the year, taking the slalom at the CU Invitational. She finished in the top five in nine different races. She made the podium in every non-NCAA start of the season. She was third in the regionals in slalom and 8th in the GS. Her top finish in GS was a second place spot at Western State in Crested Butte. At the NCAA Championships, Perricone responded to the hometown crowd with a pair of top five finishes to help the Buffs to the NCAA title. She was fifth in the GS and fourth in the slalom, both good for First Team All-America honors. Perricone was also named the RMISA Skier of the Week after the Western State meet, and was named the CU Freshman of the Year for all sports at the CUSPY’s in May.
Club ? Perricone spent 16 years as a member of the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, where she was a 2002 Junior Olympic Champion and a 2005 member of the World Junior Team. She started skiing with SSWSC at the age of two.
In the Classroom ? Perricone is pursuing a degree in biology at Colorado.
Personal ? Lisa Gabriella Perricone was born March 31, 1985 in Steamboat Springs. She is the daughter of Roger and Nancy Perricone of Steamboat, and has one brother, Gaspar (24). Her hobbies include playing piano. Perricone, along with teammate Drew Roberts, acted as an extra in a Marc Udall 2008 Senate Campaign commercial.
