CHARGED UP: STUDENT LOYALTY & REWARDS PROGRAM
Beginning in Fall 2026, Colorado Athletics is launching Charged Up, a student loyalty and rewards program built with input from the Student Government Tri-Execs, the Division of Student Life, The Charge student section, and CU students across campus. Every eligible undergraduate student can participate, with or without a CU Sports Pass.
- How it works: claim your ticket through your student ticket account, check in at the game through the Buffs Mobile App (automatic via Bluetooth beacon, or manual scan of your claimed ticket), and earn loyalty points.
- You do not need a CU Sports Pass to earn points — every home Olympic sport event (Soccer, Volleyball, Lacrosse, Women's Basketball, Tennis, Cross Country, Track & Field, Golf, Skiing) earns points for any student attending free with their Buff OneCard. CU Sports Pass holders earn additional points by claiming and attending Football and Men's Basketball games.
- Starting points in the program's inaugural year are based on class year/credit hours completed entering 2026–27, allocated the week of August 31, 2026, in coordination with the Registrar's Office.
- Points and leaderboard standing are visible anytime in the Leaderboard tab of the Buffs Mobile App.
- A percentage of points rolls over at the end of each academic year.
- Bonus point opportunities include joining The Charge student section (+100 points), adding a Buff Club Student Membership (+50 points), and picking up your Gold Rush shirt at a designated event (+25 points), among others announced throughout the year.
- Rewards may include priority ticket access to high-demand games, postseason ticket priority, exclusive events and behind-the-scenes access, game-week raffle entries, a graduating-senior Folsom Field photoshoot opportunity, concessions/team store discounts, corporate partner perks, and priority access to the following year's CU Sports Pass on-sale.
- CU Boulder graduate students and other professional degree-seeking students do not pay the Student Athletic Fee and are not eligible for Charged Up or free Olympic sport admission.
- The Athletic Ticket Office (see contact info below) can help with Charged Up questions; full program rules and FAQs are posted at app.cubuffs.com/chargedup.
Location & Bluetooth Data. Charged Up uses Bluetooth beacons installed at CU Athletics venues to detect your device's proximity and confirm attendance for loyalty points. This detection is limited to the interior of CU Athletics venues during event hours. Colorado Athletics does not collect, store, or use your location data outside of these venues, does not track participants between events, and does not sell or share location data with third parties. Bluetooth/location access is optional — participants who decline may still earn points by presenting a scanned ticket at venue entry. Participants may disable Bluetooth or location permissions for the Buffs Mobile App at any time in their device settings without losing eligibility for the Program.
IMPORTANT GENERAL INFORMATION
Students may pick up a barcode sticker for their Buff OneCard from either the CU Campus Card Office or the Athletic Ticket Office. This barcode can then be used for admission to events. The name on the sticker must match the name on the Buff OneCard ID to be valid.
All students must present their valid Buff OneCard for admission to events or to take advantage of any student benefits with the Athletic Department. Any attempt at fraudulent admission by not using your own Buff OneCard may result in disciplinary action from the university or local authorities. Selling or transferring a claimed student ticket may result in loss of Sports Pass and Charged Up eligibility.
The CU Campus Card Office, located in room N180 in the Center for Community (C4C) building, will be open during football home games beginning two hours before kick-off until two hours after kick-off to replace lost, stolen or damaged ID cards.
The Athletic Department will communicate with students as needed through their email provided during online account registration, as well as through text alerts and Buffs Mobile App push notifications. Please watch your email accounts and enable app notifications for important messages from the Athletic Department as well as other campus offices.
