2015: Indoor: Rintala raced the 800-meter run twice for the Buffs. She placed third at the Potts Invite (1/17), clocking in at 2:26.27. The following week at the Air Force Invite (1/24), she finished ninth in 2:25.43.
Outdoor: Rintala raced three 800s during the outdoor season. She started with a 2:23.54 performance at the Jerry Quiller Classic (3/21) before running 2:24.44 at the CU Invite (4/11). Rintala’s final race of the season was at the Bryan Clay Invite (4/17) where she clocked in at 2:19.11.
2014: Indoor: Rintala ran a pair of 800s during her first season. She ran 2:25.01 at the Air Force Invite (1/25), finishing 15th overall. Rintala recorded a season-best at the Husky Classic (2/15), finishing 2:18.20 for 41st overall.
Outdoor: Rintala raced three 800s during the outdoor season. She clocked a time of 2:23.67 at the CU Invite (4/12) to start the season and ran a season-best 2:18.80 at the Jack Christiansen Invite (4/26). Her final race was at the CSM Last Chance where she finished in 2:21.21.
CROSS COUNTRY: (2014) Rintala only raced once for the Buffs. She was 60th overall at the Rocky Mountain Shootout. (2013) Rintala raced twice as a freshman. She ran unattached at the Rocky Mountain Shootout, placing 56th overall. Rintala also competed at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational, finishing 15th.
HIGH SCHOOL: Rintala’s main focus is the 800 and 1,600-meter runs. As a junior, she placed seventh in the California Central Coast Section finals of the 1,600 after placing fourth in the semifinals. Rintala recorded a top-100 finish at the 2012 California State Cross Country Championships, finishing 83th overall. She was 13th at the CCC Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL BESTS: 800-meters: 2:15; 1,600-meters: 5:10.
IN THE CLASSROOM: Rintala is a psychology major.
PERSONAL: Olivia Reyes Rintala was born on May 3, 1995 in Mountain View, Calif. She is the daughter of John and Norma Rintala of San Jose, Calif. She also has two brothers, John and Andrew. Her uncle, Tony Reyes, bowled for the Professional Bowling Association (PBA) and he was an All-American at San Jose State. Her great uncle, Rudy Rintala, played football, baseball and ran track at Stanford. He was also a 1932 Olympian.
