1999-00 – Cavarra competed at the Heather Farr/CU Memorial Tournament and shot a career-best 79 in the second round.
1998-99 – Cavarra’s second season was limited to a single tournament, Colorado’s Heather Farr Memorial where she finished 71st after firing a season-low 265, 54-hole effort.
1997-98 – Averaged 86.33 strokes in three tournament rounds, playing as an individual in the Colorado Invitational. Over the summer she took top honors in both the Ptarmigan Invitational (Fort Collins) and the Stormking Open (Steamboat) and finished third in the Dos Rios Match Play Invitational.
1996-97 – Redshirted.
1995-96 – Played in five rounds for the Buffaloes as she matured into her role as a collegiate competitor. Was named to the academic all-Big Eight team with a stellar 3.91 grade point average in business.
High School – Lettered four times in golf for head coach Marcia Kirkley and Smoky Hill at the No.1 position for the Buffaloes. She was named first-team all-league each of her four years at Smoky Hill, and also earned a host of other accolades including three years as her team MVP (her freshman through junior years), being named the KCNC-TV News 4 Prep Athlete of the Week during her senior season and her selection to the 1994 Colorado Junior America’s Cup Team. She was also named the KACT-TV8 Athlete of the Year after her senior year.
Cavarra also participated on her high school volleyball and basketball teams, a three-time letter winner for both. In volleyball, Cavarra starred as a middle blocker, leading her team in blocks as a senior and garnering first-team all-league honors. As a hoopster, Cavarra was named first-team all-league and was an honorable mention all-state selection as a senior, and was also tabbed a Colorado Senior All-Star in her final season for the Buffaloes. Cavarra was team captain for basketball her sophomore through senior seasons, and served as the volleyball captain during her senior campaign.
Cavarra sparkled in the classroom, graduating from Smoky Hill with a 3.8 gpa after four years on the honor roll. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Colorado High School Activities Association academic all-state first-team (junior and senior) and was a finalist for the 1994 National High School Heisman Trophy Award (junior).
Other – Cavarra got used to success in Boulder early, as she lists her last basketball game, against Boulder High in “The Pit,” as the biggest moment of her high school career. She scored a career-best 34 points, broke three school career records and made the top five in five state career categories in the game.
Personal – Born August 11, 1976, in Aurora, Colo.
In the Classroom – Cavarra carries a near-perfect 3.979 grade point average in marketing into her fifth year. She has had six perfect 4.00 semesters, including two last year, and has been on the Dean’s List all eight semesters.
