- Olympic experience: Competed in the Summer Olympics in 1996 in Atlanta, finishing 19th in Mountain Biking.  Competed in the 1998 (Nagano) and 2002 (Salt Lake City) Winter Olympics in Cross Country Skiing.  In Nagano, she was 22nd in the 5K, 23rd in the 30K and 24th in the 5/10K pursuit while helping the 4x5K relay team to a sixth place showing.  In Salt Lake City, she was 20th in the 15K, 40th in the 30K, 62nd in the 5/5K pursuit and finished just off the podium in fourth place in the 4x5K relay.  She transitioned back to the Summer Olympics in 2012 in London, finishing 14th in Mountain Biking. Â
- About Katerina: A member of the 2000 University of Colorado ski team where she competed on the Nordic team. Â She skied in 10 races that year, finishing nine and taking first place five times, including winning both the RMISA and NCAA Individual Championships in the 5K freestyle race. Â She had seven total podium appearances. Â She transferred from CU to Nevada where in 2001-02 she won three more individual NCAA Championships. Â Her older sister, Lucie Hanusova, was a member of the 1998 CU team before passing away in a snowmobile accident on Jan. 11 after just her second collegiate race.Â
