What sparked your interest in the Ralphie program?
The biggest thing for me was how close everyone was with each other. The Handlers are a very tight knit group, and we all have the same passion in representing our University.
What does Ralphie mean to you?
Ralphie is the symbol of this University, so it is very important that Ralphie is presented the right way. It is our responsibility as Handlers to make sure that her needs are taken care of both on and off of the field, so Ralphie means a lot to all of us. She's the reason why this group exists.
What's one thing that surprises people the most when they ask you about being a Ralphie Handler?
Most people back home actually have a lot of trouble picturing what we do here with Ralphie because of how unique this tradition is. Once they realize what the Ralphie Program is about, I think that the biggest surprise for them is the fact that as a group, we are able to control Ralphie as she makes her way around the field.
What are your hobbies?
Hobbies include playing sports, listening to music, hiking, playing chess.
What are three things that make you unique?
My last name is Deutsch, but I am not German. I was awarded senior athlete of the year at my High School. I also consider myself a very outgoing person; someone who can get along with almost anyone
