Career at Colorado—Entering his third season on the team and is still a sophomore eligibility wise after redshirting the 2014 season due to illness, it is unsure if he will ski in 2015.  He has 10 races to his credit from his freshman season in 2013, finishing between 15th and 22nd in nine of those 10 races.

2014 (Sophomore)Von Thaden took a redshirt season during the 2014 season due to illness.

2013 (Freshman)Von Thaden participated in all 10 races on the season leading up to the NCAA Championships, coming up with three top 15 and four top 20 finishes in his first season of collegiate skiing.  The No. 22 seemed to be his lucky number, as he finished 22nd in half of the 10 races.  He also had three 15th place finishes, in the freestyle races at the Colorado Invitational, Utah Invitational and RMISA Championships.  Four of his five 22nd place finishes came in the five classical races he participated in, in each of the last four race and two of his three 15th place finishes came in the final two races of the year, meaning he had identical results in the Utah Invitational and the RMISA Championships.

Club—He skied for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and enjoyed a successful 2012 season.  He finished ninth in the 15-kilometer freestyle mass start race at the Junior National Championships in Soldier Hollow, Utah, where he also finished eighth in the 10-kilometer classic race and his 3x3-kilometer relay team won the championship.

High School—Von Thaden attended Lowell Whiteman School in Steamboat Springs, Colo.  Aside from skiing, he also lettered in soccer for one season as a midfielder.

In the Classroom—Von Thaden is majoring in Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering at Colorado.

Personal—Charlie Stephen Von Thaden was born August 4, 1993, in Steamboat Springs, Colo., to Harry and Carla Von Thaden.  His cousin is Johnny Spillane, a three-time Olympic silver medalist in Vancouver in Nordic Combined.  He chose Colorado over Montana State and New Hampshire and credits 2013 senior Iam Mallams as why he chose to attend CU.
