2007 Second Team All-American (Slalom)

Top Career Slalom Finish:  4th (2007 RMISA Championships)

Top Career Giant Slalom Finish: 6th (2006 Montana Invitational)

This Season ? “Josh is a junior this year with two NCAA Championship starts on his resume.  He is an excellent student and fast slalom skier with a great attitude.  He continues to work hard to bring his Giant Slalom to the same level as his slalom and we expect great things from him this season.”

2007 ? Bryan skied to top-20 finishes in five races, including three top-10 efforts in his sophomore campaign.  He earned his top career slalom finish at the RMISA Championships, finishing fourth with a time of 1:22.98 after starting in the 44th position, earning him a sound position to qualify for nationals.  Bryan paced the Buffaloes as CU’s top finisher in the slalom at the NCAA Championships and earned second-team All-America honors after finishing 10th.

2006 ? One of two men’s alpine skiers on CU’s NCAA Championship roster, Bryan was a mid-season addition to the CU roster after getting cleared by the NCAA just prior to the alpine portion of the Colorado Invitational.  He skied to two top 10 finishes as an unattached skier prior to joining the Buffs’ roster, and his points would have vaulted CU to a win in Montana.  Once joining the team, he skied to a trio of top 10 finishes, including an 8th place mark in the slalom at the regional. He made his NCAA debut as the No. 24 seed in the giant slalom and the No. 13 in the slalom.  There he paired with newcomer Jean-Francois Ferreira as the only two men’s alpine qualifiers to help CU to the NCAA title, taking 20th in the slalom and 31st in the GS.

Club ? Bryan spent a year in Steamboat Springs training after spending the previous three in Winter Park before starting his collegiate career at Colorado.  During his stint in Winter Park, he was a two-time participant in the U.S. Nationals.  Prior to coming to Colorado, he was a six year member of Team Gilboa, where he was a five-time junior Olympian. He earned a third place overall finish at the 2003 Junior Olympics, his top non-collegiate finish. He also posted two top-30 finishes in the 2005 U.S. Nationals in the slalom and the giant slalom.

In the Classroom ? Bryan is majoring in international affairs at Colorado and is also interested in business, economics and finance.

Personal ? Joshua Stephen Bryan was born Oct. 26, 1984 in Minneapolis.  He is the son of Stephen and Valerie Bryan and has an older sister, Jessica (32) and an older brother John (26).  Bryan volunteers with Expand where he works with mentally handicapped adults and children.  He was also recruited by Denver, Western State and Nevada, but Colorado was his first choice.
