This Season ? “Miles is a skier with analytic mind and professional approach to all aspects of the sport and life.  After years of struggle with equipment and injuries, Miles seems to have found the right gear and has been very fast in training.  There is no doubt in my mind that he will capitalize on his previous experiences in his final year of eligibility.”

2007 ? Cooke continues to show improvement with each year of competition as he captured seven top-20 finishes, including three-top 10 finishes in giant slalom races in his junior campaign.  His best finish came when he was CU’s top finisher and placed eighth in the GS at the New Mexico Invitational with a time of 1:56.53.  Cooke qualified for the NCAA Championships once again, but fell short of a starting spot.

2006 ? Cooke jumped out to a great start in the first meet of the season posting a collegiate career best sixth place finish in the Alaska Invitational.  In all, he posted four top-20 finishes in 10 races.  He wrapped up two full meets in the first two of the season, but struggled to finish races in the last three meets of the year, including the RMISA Championships.  Cooke managed a 10th place finish in the GS at Western State, but a DNS in the slalom coupled with a fall on the second run of the slalom at RMISAs kept him off the alpine team for the NCAA meet.

2005 ? Cooke had a solid first season with six top-20 finishes in 10 races.  He had a relatively slow start to his collegiate career, with just a pair of finishes in five tries, a 16th and 11th place GS finish at the Utah and Alaska Invites, respectively, before stringing together five consecutive finishes.  His best weekend of the season was an eighth-place giant slalom effort and 17th place slalom finish at New Mexico before closing out the season in 17th (GS) and a season best 15th in the slalom at the NCAA West Regional in Montana.

Other ? Cooke skied for the Stevens Pass Alpine Club from 1993-02 where he claimed a runner-up finish in the 2001 Junior Olympics in the slalom.  From 2003-04 he skied for the Park City Ski Team where he won the giant slalom and finished third in the same event a day later in an FIS race in Mammoth, Calif. in December ’03.  A year later in Sugar Bowl, Calif., he reached the podium again with second and third-place finishes, respectively, in the slalom and GS. In 2004 he raced in the U.S. National Alpine Championships.  Cooke was also recruited by Montana State, Utah and Vermont.

In the Classroom ? Cooke is finance major at Colorado and owns a better-than 3.0 grade point.  At Eastmont he was an honor roll student his sophomore, junior and senior years.

Personal ? Born March 19, 1984 in Sun Valley, Idaho, Miles Nathaniel Cooke is the son of Clarke and Kerri Cooke of Ketchum, Idaho.  His older brother, Josh Minert, is a member of the United States Coast Guard and he also has a 12-year-old sister, Morgan.  He lists working out, mountain biking, wake boarding and surfing, playing golf and soccer as his hobbies.
