Rokos on Duran ? “Pat is finally back in his comfort zone in terms of confidence and strength after his injury.  It took longer than expected, but seeing him ski in the preseason looks absolutely worth the wait.”

2008 ? After sitting out the entire 2007 season due to a leg fracture suffered during a training run for the 2006 NCAA Championships, Duran spent his junior season getting back into race form with the hopes of picking up where he left off in 2006.  Duran managed two top-15 finishes in the GS, with his season-best coming at the RMISA Championships as he cruised to a 10th place finish with a two-run time of 1:49.97, which was his best finish since taking third in the GS at the 2006 Western Regionals.

2007 ? Was forced to redshirt the 2007 season due to injury.

2006 ? Duran was arguably CU’s top men’s alpine skier last season before a fall in training the week of the NCAA Championships sidelined him for that meet.  Before that unfortunate event, Duran had posted his best runs of the season en route to a third place finish in the giant slalom at the RMISA Championships, his best finish in either discipline on the season.  A week earlier he was seventh in the Western State Invite, his only other top-10 finish of the season.  In 10 races, he managed five top-20 finishes.

Notable NORAM Results ? Duran qualified with a 6th place division ranking in the US Alpine Nationals Rocky Mountain Division.  He placed 11th at the NORAM SG Le Massif and placed 20th at the NORAM SL in Maine.

Other ? In 2004-05 Duran won the season long Overall Title and SG Title in the Rocky Mountain Trophy Series.  In the US Nationals Duran placed 25th in the Giant Slalom, 34th in the Super G, 15th in SL, and 33rd in GS.  In 2002-03 Duran competed in the Junior I Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y. and placed first in the Giant Slalom, first in the Super G, and third in DH. Duran has participated as a member of the US Children's Team in the Topolino International Children's World Championships in Italy, the Chevy Trucks Eastern Junior Olympics in Cranmore, N.H., the USA Team in the Whistler International Cup and as a member of the Junior Ski Testing Team for Ski Magazine.  He took fourth in the Giant Slalom and fifth in the Slalom at the Rolex Eastern Junior J3 Olympics, as well as earning the title of Vermont J4 State Champion in 1997-98.

In the Classroom ? Duran is an environmental science major at Colorado.

Personal ? Patrick Duran was born on February 6, 1985 in Peterborough, N.H. during a snowstorm to parents Linda and Michael Duran.  He lettered three years in soccer at Green Mountain Valley School in addition to his skiing commitments. Duran's older brother Michael graduated from Boston College in 2003 and captained their Ski Team as an All-American.  He led them to their best ever results, a win at USCSA Nationals.  Duran's older sister Kelley graduated from Smith College in 2004 and captained the Smith College ski team for three years as a three-time All-American.  Kelley participated in the 2003 Deaf World Games in Sundsville, Sweden where she earned Silver in Giant Slalom, Bronze in Slalom and fifth in DH.
