2005-06: Four-year letterwinner ... Was one of two seniors on this year’s team ... Finished career with 72 career singles victories (tied for 11th) and tied for second with 66 career doubles victories ... Entered the dual season No. 39 nationally (out of 120 players) ... Finished her career eighth in school history against the Big 12 Conference (18-15) in singles play, second in doubles (28-19) ... Won the second most on the team with 21 singles wins ... Most doubles wins (17) on the team for the year, also had the most dual match wins (w/ Torres Torres) with eight ... Upset two nationally ranked players (No. 36 in the fall, a No. 107 in the spring) ... In doubles, teamed with Torres Torres at No. 1 doubles upsetting then-No. 43 Cerna/Zrustova of Baylor (April 22) ... Won nine spring matches at No. 1 singles and seven at No. 1 doubles.

 

2005 Fall: Entered her senior season with an impressive 10-3 record, including five straight wins ... Four of her victories came against nationally ranked players (No. 36 Ashley Bentley, Alabama; No. 58 Iryna Tkachenko, Oklahoma State; and two wins over No. 120 Emily Kirchem, Colorado State) ... Advanced to the Wilson/ITA Central Regional semifinals with four straight wins ... At the quarterfinal regionals rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the final set, then won the final seven games against No. 58 Iryna Tkachenko (Kansas State) for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory ... Entering the spring 2006 season, is the 17th woman in school history to win at least 61 career matches ... In doubles, won six of nine matches tying two others for the team high ... Teamed with freshman Monica Milewski for a 5-1 record, tallied the other with freshman Franziska Jendrian.

 

2005 Spring: One of six women to win 15 or more singles matches, a CU first since the 1997-98 season ... Finished fourth overall with 17 wins for the year and fifth overall in dual wins (11) ... Went 8-11 at No. 3 singles with five of those coming against the Big 12; was also 3-2 at No. 2 ... Earned a pair of singles triumphs at Big 12 Tournament helping the Buffaloes defeat Kansas (first round) and upset No. 3 seed and No. 31 ranked Nebraska (quarterfinals) ... Teamed with 2005 graduate Kendra Strandemo at No. 1 doubles for 9-6 record ... Nationally ranked with Strandemo the entire spring with a career-high No. 27 by the ITA; finished the dual season No. 54 ... Was also a 2005 All-Big 12 doubles selection with Strandemo that saw the pair win eight of 12 matches against conference opponents and 15-9 for the year, a CU best among doubles teams ... Defeated 2005 NCAA Tournament participant Ruckert/Strohm of Texas (March 26), 8-4 ... At the Big 12 Tournament, helped CU claim both doubles points over Kansas and Nebraska at the No. 1 position ... Also teamed with Veera Nurmi at No. 2 doubles for three wins improving her doubles record to 18 wins, second best on the team.

 

2004 Fall: Won six matches apiece in singles and doubles ... Was 6-6 in singles with three straight winners at the ITA/Wilson Region V Championships in Tulsa, Okla. (Oct. 20-24) reaching the consolation finals, also won five of singles matches from Oct. 8-Oct. 23 ... In doubles, teamed with Strandemo for six straight wins (a CU doubles best), including an upset winner over then-No. 24 ranked and 2005 NCAA participants Dullens/Maksovic of Denver at the CU Invite (Sept. 17-19).

 

2004 Spring: Moved up to the No. 2 position achieving a team-best 13 spring victories and 20 wins for the season ... Went 8-4 against the Big 12 in singles ... Upset No. 114 ranked Irina Lykina of Oklahoma in three sets ... Started the spring with four of five victories and ended the season winning eight of her last 10 matches ... In doubles, won a second-best 12 matches, including eight at No. 1 and four at No. 2 ... Has won 34 singles in two years.

 

2003 Fall: Won her last five in a row in the backdraw of the fall season at the ITA Central Region Championships (Salt Lake City) winning the consolation finals ... Finished the fall season with a 7-5 mark ... In doubles, went 5-3 with four of those victories coming with Jenny Hanson ... Advanced to the Round of 16 main draw falling to the top-seeded team from Missouri.

 

2002-03: Impressive initial season with 14-7 mark in the spring ... Helped CU to a spot in the NCAA Tournament and to its most wins (14) since the 1998-99 season ... Won 12 of 15 matches at No. 5 singles, including six in a row from Feb. 22-March 22 ... All spring victories except one were in straight-sets ... Also excelled on the doubles court with 14 wins in 19 tries ... Teamed with Sarah Burrows for 11-3 mark at No. 3 ... Earned Big 12 honors at No. 3 doubles with Burrows as the conference position champion ... Won both singles and doubles points helping CU to its upset over top-seeded Baylor at the Big 12 Tournament. Vanderdys took a 6-4, 6-4 winner over BU’s Barbora Blahutiakova, and teamed with Burrows for an 8-6 win at No. 3 doubles over Blahutiakova and Mijic.

 

Centreville HS: Lettered all four years ... Played No. 2 singles and finished four-year career with 80-1 record ... Also played No. 1 doubles that was undefeated and number one in the state of Virginia for head coach Bill Stuhr ... Member of Virginia AAA High School League State Champions during fall of 1998, 1999, and 2000 ... Member of 2001 doubles state champion team ... Number one ranked player in 2001 USTA/MATA 18’s division; in 2001 and 2002 was 95th and 91st, respectively in USTA Girls 18’s.

 

Personal: Born Jessica Jan Vanderdys on August 15, 1984 in Austin, Texas ... Daughter of Joe and Mary Jane Vanderdys ... Has a younger sister  ... Father played junior and college tennis and mother participated in junior swimming ... Selected CU because of the great people she met on her recruiting visit, the beautiful campus, and the solid academic programs.

 

In the Classroom: Graduated in May 2006 with a degree in international affairs.
