2008 OUTLOOK: Ben has worked as hard as any CU Track & Field athlete to put himself in contention to score at both the indoor and outdoor conference championships.

2007: Ryan ran the 800 during the indoor season. He clocked his personal best in a prelim at the Air Force Invite, 1:58.84, which was the sixth-best time entering the finals. His best finish was 2:01.82 at the Potts Invite when he placed second overall. During the outdoor season, he raced once in the 400, but concentrated mainly on the 800 again. His pr in the 400 was 53.39 at the Tom Benich Invite. Ryan showed improvements in the 800 as his pr was 1:53.00. He ran that at the UCLA Invite and placed fourth in his group. Ryan took first at the Wyoming Invite at the end of April by crossing the finish in 1:56.50.

2006 (at Wake Forest): Ryan ran a personal record of 2:23.61 at the Outdoor ACC Championships in the 800.

HIGH SCHOOL: Ryan owns scholastic school record in 400m dash at 48.59.

ACADEMICS: Ryan intends to major in MCDB at Colorado. At Wake Forest, he accumulated a 3.80 grade point average and was on the fall ’05 and spring ’06 Dean’s List. He recorded a 4.0 in the fall ’06 and currently owns a 3.95 GPA. Ryan was the President of his high school's branch of the National Honor Society. He was awarded the Principal's Honor Roll after achieving a 4.0 grade point average and was a member of the Colorado Olympic Development Program from 2000-04.

PERSONAL: Benjamin Joseph Ryan was born on August 30, 1986 to Greg and Janet Ryan in Madison, Wis. His father was the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team from 2005-07 and served as an assistant from 2002-05. Greg was an All-American at SMU and played soccer professionally for the New York Cosmos, Chicago Sting and Tulsa Roughnecks of the North American Soccer League. He has one younger brother, Matthew, who is 12. Ryan lists reading, studying and lifting weights as his hobbies.
