2005 Outlook: Vanier returns as one of CU’s top vaulters, and hopes to build off last season’s efforts to add depth in the Buffs’ field events.
2004: Vanier had four of the team’s top five attempts in the indoor pole vault with a season-best 14-07.25 at the Adidas Invite. He won the event at the Colorado Invitational and placed fourth at the Air Force Classic. In the outdoor season, Vanier took second place at the Potts Invitational with a 14-07.25 vault.
High School: A two-sport athlete at Boulder High School, Vanier was twice awarded the Heart of the Panther Coaches Award, and as a senior received the Christian Recht Award. He lettered twice in track and field and earned three letters in football as a running back/cornerback.
Academics: Vanier is an aerospace engineering major at Colorado with a near perfect 3.931 grade point average. He has been on the Dean’s List, and Commissioner’s Honor Roll all three semesters.
Personal: Blake Vanier was born December 14, 1984 in Boulder, Colo. His mother is Denise Maslanka. His uncle, Gary Vanier, played golf at Stanford from 1970-72. Vanier wants to own his own business after graduation.
