2003 Track & Field: McDevitt participated in the pole vault during the indoor track season, tallying three of the top five marks on the team. She began the season with a second place finish at the Air Force Classic (10-6) before besting her mark with a 10-8.75 and an 11th place finish at the Frank Sevigne Invite. McDevitt was one of two Buffs to participate in the pole vault at the Big 12 Championships, taking 18th place with a jump of 10-10.25.
High School: McDevitt left her mark on the Colorado high school record books as she set a state record at the 4A level for pole vault her junior and senior years. Her state record set in the spring of 2002 is 11-8 and stands as a record at Liberty High School as well as in the state annals. She set a state meet record of 11-0 during her senior campaign to win the state title.
Personal: Brianna Shay McDevitt was born on Aug. 15, 1984 in Landstuhl, Germany, where her father Kenneth was stationed with the U.S. Army. Mother, Karen, is an accountant. A National Honor Society member in high school, McDevitt is enrolled at Colorado as a molecular, chemical and developmental biology major. She chose Colorado over Ohio State, Bowling Green and New Mexico.
