2003 Track & Field: Ikwuakor participated in the shot put, and hammer and weight throws during both the indoor and outdoor campaigns. Outdoors, she earned a pair of fifth place finishes in the shot put at the Ram Open (39-07.25) and Jim Click Invite (39-11.25), with her top mark of 42-00.50 at CU Twilight. In the hammer throw, she tallied the top two team scores with a 141-00.00 at CU Twilight and a 127-04.00 at the Ram Open. Indoors, Ikwuakor had her top shot put mark of 40-02.00 in a sixth place finish at the Air Force Classic, and her top weight throw of 40-02.00 in a 16th place finish at the Frank Sevigne Invitational.
High School: A three-year all-conference athlete from Arvada’s Pomona High School, Ikwuakor holds state records in both the shot put and triple jump. In addition to shot put and triple jump, Ikwuakor was an all-conference performer on the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams. Ikwuakor was a four-year letterwinner in track and a three-year letterwinner in basketball.
Personal: Obiamlom Ikwuakor was born Aug. 13, 1984 in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Her parents are Killian and Patricia Ikwuakor. She plans on studying kinesiology at Colorado, and chose the Buffs over Colorado State and Kansas State. Triplet brothers Akobundu and Chimemerem are both freshmen on the CU track team.
