2007 OUTLOOK: Chris has had a tremendous off-season and made huge strides in the weight room. He is looking to end his career by becoming the fourth Buff to crack the 46 second barrier.  The relays will receive a huge boost from his hard work and dedication this past fall.

2006: Abuan set personal records in the 200 and 600-meters in the indoor season. He recorded a mark of 22.09 in the 200m at the Air Force Invitational. His pr in the 600m was at the Big 12 Championship where he placed eighth to score for the Buffs. Abuan also ran in the 400, with his best finish coming at the AFA Invite when he took sixth with a time of 48.94. He was part of the 4x400m relay which took eight at the conference championship. Abuan had a successful outdoor season, scoring in 4x440-yard relay. The relay took third (3:09.41) and helped CU to a fourth-place finish, just one point ahead of Oklahoma. Abuan ran a pr in the 200 at the Tom Benich Classic (21.36) and in the 400 at the Jack Christiansen Invite (46.96). His 400 mark was the second-best by a Buff in 2006. As a member of the 4x100m relay, he was part of a team that came within eight-tenths (40.3) of a second from breaking the school record of 39.5. At the Big 12 Championships, he placed 11th in the 200 and 400m dashes.

2005: Abuan participated in the indoor 200 and 400-meter dashes, the 600-yard run and the mile relay. He raced in the 200 at the Big 12 Indoor Championships where he recorded a time of 22.69 and finished 22nd overall. In the 400, he ran a personal record of 48.68 at the Air Force Classic and took fourth in the event. Abuan also set a personal record in the 600 at the Big 12 Championship. He ran a time of 1:11.51 and took 10th overall, which was the fastest time for CU during the indoor season. His mile relay team finished with a time of 3:16.05 at the Air Force Classic. During the outdoor season he raced in the 200, 400, the 4x100 relay, the 4x400 and the mile relay. His best performance in the 200 came at the Tom Benich Invitational where Abuan finished in 22.33. He ran a season best 48.30 in the 400 at the Ris Western-Air Force Twilight and took second place. Abuan also took second at the Colorado Invitational (48.67). He earned All-Big 12 Honors in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

2004: Abuan raced in the indoor 200 and 400-meter dashes, the 600-yard run and the 4x400-meter relay. His lone race in the 200 came at the Air Force Invitational, where he recorded a time of 22.54, good for 19th overall. His top time in the 400 (48.60) was at the prelims at the Air Force Invite, while he finished the overall meet in fifth, clocking a 49.08 in the finals. In the 600, Abuan competed in three separate meets, including the Adidas Invitational where he earned a fourth-place finish with a personal record of 1:11.83. The time was also the fastest for CU during the indoor season. His top 600 finish was a runner-up standing at the Colorado Invite when he recorded a 1:14.18. On the 4x400-meter relay team, Abuan helped pace a second-place completion at the Air Force Invite (3:18.55), as well as a ninth-place finish at the Big 12 Championships (3:19.02). During the outdoor season, garnered 200-meter first-place honors at the Tom Benich Classic in a time of 22.22, and then followed up that performance in his next race on top once again, as he ran to victory with a 48.07 in the 400. That mark was the third-best for CU during the spring.  He also finished third in the 400 at CU’s own Potts Invitational in a time of 48.48 before a hamstring pull forced him to redshirt the rest of the season.      

2003: Abuan competed in the indoor 400-meter, 4x400 and 4x440-meter relays, and the outdoor 200 and 400-meter dashes. He owned the top four scores on the team in the indoor 400-meter, including his season-best time of 48.84 at the Big 12 Championships (ninth place). In addition, his 4x400 relay team placed eighth at the Big 12s with a season-best 3:18.75. During the outdoor campaign, Abuan placed third on the team with his 200-meter mark (21.75) and second in the 400-meter with a first-place finish at the Jack Christensen Invitational (48.01).

HIGH SCHOOL: At Standley Lake High School, he was named first-team all-Jefferson County his senior year in the 4x400 relay and qualified for the state meet in the relay as well as the 400-meter dash. He also participated in the USATF Junior Olympics following his senior season and finished 13th in the 4x400 relay and No. 24 in the 400-meter dash. He was a member of the 4x400 league champions and third-place finishers in the 400. Abuan also lettered two years as a defensive back on the football field.

ACADEMICS: Abuan is a psychology major at Colorado.  

PERSONAL: Christopher John Abuan was born on August 5, 1984, in Somerville, N.J., to parents John and Connie Abuan, and Bonnie Freitas. His younger sister, Sasha, is a sophomore on the track team at CU. His uncle, Marano Abuan, played community college football in California.
